Hi Jeff-- Thanks for the adapter link. Looks like just what I need. I was all set to order the HEIL PR781 mic and cable this morning when I finally got a response from Jerry Lynch at HEIL saying they dont make a 3 pin XLR cable to go to Omni VII!? Now Im confused again. I emailed him back questioning him about the cc-1-XLR Y.
HEIL sure does not make it easy to buy their products. Poor customer service too. I emailed HEIL three days ago and they just got back to me this morning. They have no phone number to call either.

Thanks Bob.... I hope its that simple. Do you know how I could adapt the same cable to use with the four pin connector on my Omni V? Or should I buy a separate cable for the Omni V?

I want to add one more thing. You would think when you buy a mic you could just tell them what your going to use it with and they could make you the appropriate cable. How simple is that to improve sales and customer satisfaction?! Rosario / KA2Z

Howdy... Is there any good programs for propagation? Something that would give up to the minute greyscale, flux, band conditions, etc.
I have PC windows 7, and MAC.
Thanks,

Howdy.... I need to make a mic cable. I want to buy a HEIL 781 mic to use with my TenTec Omni VII. I have the pin out diagram for the Omni eight pin male receptacle, but not sure how to connect the xlr plug for the 781. I would also like to have an adapter to use the same mic with my four pin Omni V. I emailed HEIL, but no response to date.
Thanks for any help!

Hi... If you look at the InRad Filter website they offer four CW filters for the Kenwood TS830S numbers, 21, 98, 99, and 97. Two are 400hz, and two are 250hz. My question is what is the difference between these, and which two would work best in the Kenwood TS830 for CW? Any comments or suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks

eHam Forums / Antennas and Towers and more / RE: Dipole fed with 450 ohm ladder-line vs coax

Feeding a dipole with ladder line is attractive because its lighter weight than coax and less lossy, not to mention cheaper. Having said that, If I'm grasping what K0ZN is saying is to cut the band element dipole wires a half wave then feed via a center insulator with ladder line all the way into the shack straight to the tuner.
Questions: Does the length of ladder line matter? If I have trouble matching would it be good to add a length of coax and a 1:1 balun between tuner and ladder line? Which ladderline is best? Plastic coated 450? 300? or 600? Something else? I wont use bare ladderline for safety reasons. Is RF in the shack a concern with the ladderline coming into the shack?
Thanks for any comments.
