I have a Kenwood 520 are there other remote VFO that are compatible with the 520? my goal would be to have one that would require more turning between kilocycles. Making it easier to dial in stations. I used a icom 7000 on field day and it required almost 1 turn to move 1 KC Thanks George

Found the arcing on the band-switch, destroyed the wiper on the switch, I am trying to find a replacement. The radio works fine on the higher frequencies (that part of the switch is ok) Radio tunes up to 100 watts no problem Thanks George

The band-switch on the 520 is different than the 520s or 820, Didn't look to hard to change, just mark the wires and make sure it's in the right position. On my rig the wiper that contacts the pad was completely burned off, Silver ink wouldn't work George

Has any one heard of a CMI Power Master 100 amp? I don't have any specs on the unit. The label says 160 watts AM, 300 watts SSB there is no reference to frequencies. I assume it would work on 10 11,and 12 meters??? but what do you think about lower frequencies?? Thanks George

Thanks for the reply's I pulled the vfo out and cleaned the ground connection were it brushes the rotor and that helped but it is still not right, I could use some more information on installing that wire. Does the wire just go around the shaft and apply more pressure on the rotor or did you physically solder a wire to the rotor and the case?? Thanks for all the help George

I just bought a Kenwood 520 it works! the only real problem i see is the radio goes silent when the VFO is tuned to approximately 300. Does not matter what band at 300 it quits. Is this a comman problem with these old rigs or did I just buy a real boat anchor Any insight would be appreciated George
