Thanks! I knew this would be easy for someone other than me!  Smiley
2  eHam Forums / Boat Anchors / Need help identifying rig in old photo... on: December 01, 2012, 05:17:05 PM

Hello all,

I am researching the shack of my Uncle, the ex-W6CS.  I've found an old photo of his shack, and I am trying to identify the make/model of the rig on the left side of his desk in the photo below.  (I alread know about the cool Imsai 8080 on the right...)

Any help is appreciated! Thanks-

Just downloaded the new version.  Thanks for the start pause!

Still a great program...

Thanks again for writing it Smiley

Thanks for writing this...  I downloaded it last week, and have been enjoying it.  I've been using the G4FON tutor on my hiome computer, and have been having good results.  With your program I can practice anywhere, and that's quite handy...

One thing though.  It would be nice if there were a slight pause in the program after you press the "play" button, before the code started.  It's a little tricky for me to press the button and then reset my hand with my pen to copy the code.  I've been able to set up my pen and pad with my right hand and press the button with my left, but it's still kind of tricky.  The G4FON trainer seems to have a small pause at the beginning of the sequence so it's not an issue.

I know it;s a nitpick, but by far my biggest problem with learning Koch is the speed with which I can physically write, and not my speed of decoding... Especially those "big" letters like "M" and "W."  Not sure how I can get better at that other than more practice!

Thanks again for the great app! Smiley

I MAY be getting the manual too...  The guy I'm getting it from may or may not be able to find it.  Fingers crossed... I'll drop you a line if I have success- It might "inadvertantly" fall onto a copy machine somehow...

As for the Drake, it's an old SW1 that works great.  I am going to need to have both hooked up and working on the antenna at the same time in order to carry on a communication with anyone, since I would like to hear both sides of my conversation... Smiley

I'm thinking that MFJ-1708 may be perfect for me.

Thanks! The 1708 looks perfect...  I'm not sure how I missed that, since I look at my MFJ catalog on a daily basis.

I'd much rather invest in that than put up a 2nd antenna.  (Especially since the DX-60 may or may not completely work...)

Thanks for the reply to the rookie question that I really should know... Smiley

Hello All,

This will probably seem like a really simple question, but here goes...

I have been a "listener" for years, and have a nice Alpha-Delta DX dipole hooked up to my Drake receiver and it works great.  I am just now getting my first transmitter, an old Heathkit DX-60.

My problem is that I would like to use the same antenna on both radios simultaneously.  Is that a possibility?  I don't want to fry my receiver when I transmit...

I'm sure this can work, but I'm not quite sure how.  I've seen plenty of switches which let you use multiple antennas on the same rig, one at a time, but not this.

Any help is appreciated!  Thanks-

8  eHam Forums / Computers And Software / Looking for MFJ-1285 software... (old...) on: June 22, 2012, 01:46:28 PM
Hello all!
I am looking for a copy of the MFJ-1285 RTTY/CW interface software.  It was 4 small DOS programs which came on a 3.5" disk, back in the early '90's.  The programs were: MORSE.EXE, RTTY.EXE, MESSAGE.TTY and MESSAGE.CW.

I already talked to MFJ, and after they stopped laughing they informed me that they could not help...

I have an old MFJ-1224 interface that I'd like to get up and running for fun.

Alternately, if anyone has Kantronics Hamsoft for a TRS-80 Color Computer, I could use that to hook the box up to my old CoCo...

If anyone has these that they would like to share, please drop me a line at amc73@prodigy.net

Thanks!
