1  eHam Forums / Software Defined Radio / RE: Any decent inexpensive SDR shortwave receivers out there ($300 and under)? on: February 17, 2013, 10:19:16 AM
The little FiFi SDR will set you back about $175 by the time it lands on your
doorstep. There is a free GUI from Bonito just for the FiFi.

Yes....glued to my Hallicrafters XS-25 Super Defiant. I loved that old boat anchor.
Mind you it hadn't really reached the Boat Anchor moniker in 1959 when I got it
for Xmas. :-)

Fenu had one for evaluation at a SWL DX camp.
Pictures of the circuit board.

Chrome translates...

I'm not sure if this is a true SDR or like the RadioJet it's kind of in between.
Looks interesting.

I also fire up my old National NC-60 Special all-American five tube rig from time-to-time... the glow from those tubes is priceless!

I lived my teen years with a Hallicrafters SX-25 Super Defiant. Tubes galore....it would heat my bedroom in the winter. :-)

This information is on the Wiki if you bother to look for it.
I did "bother to look for it" but I would prefer the pre-amp/filter board to be....
A-be mounted in the QS1R box
B-be made FOR the QS1R by the same designer.

Did you "bother to look" and see I'm an SWL not a Ham....why would I want a Hermes?!

Coming up on 1 year after the RFFE1 Wiki update.....not a word....when you ask there are no replies...dead silence.
