eHam Forums / VHF / UHF / Looking for brand name of my lost HT external antenna.

Hello,
I have lost my HT external antenna, and want to replace it with the same make of antenna.. The appearance is as follows:
It is a telescopic antenna, for 2 Mtrs and 70 cm, approximately 12 inches long when collapsed and approximately 3 to 4 ft long when externded. It has an SMA base. It is basically black plastic, with a brass ring aound the bottom at the connector and another about a foot above the base when not extended. When extended, the center brass ring is located at about one third of the total length. It has two extension portions, one at the lower end for about one third of the total length, and the upper extension is about two thirds of the total length when fully extended. There are no manufacturer's markings on it that I could find. It fell out of the car when not being used and is lost. I know that the description isn't much, but that's all I have. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

eHam Forums / Remote HF Station Control / HRD Remote Problem
|

I have HRD running remotely on my computer in the house through a wireless connection, and it works ok for receive, but when I click on the XMIT icon in the upper right, the transmit function becomes flaky. It may take as much as ten seconds to activate, and then it may shut off again in a few seconds. It may also stay in transmit mode for a few seconds after I try to shut it off. It seems to be totally random. Also in receive, the S-meter doesn't show. Just a dark area where it should be.
I have HRD running on a computer next to my radio (not at the same time as on my house computer) which also has HRD Remote running on it, and it does show the S-meter and it also transmits normally. The radio is an FT-450 with the appropriate interface.
Any help? Thanks for any info.

eHam Forums / Digital / Using HRD Wirelessly between two computers in different rooms of a house.

I have a computer attached to my FT-450 and run HRD on it very well. I would like to control the FT-450 from another computer in the house. Both computers are connected wirelessly with a router on the computer that does not have the radio attached, and a wireless adapter on the one that's by the radio. (I get a 90% signal strength from the router using the adapter software to show the strength.)
I envision running HRD on the computer with the router, and attaching somehow wirelessly to the one that has the FT-450 attached, so I can control the FT-450 from the computer in the other room of the house. Is this possible, or not? Or is there alternative software that can do this? And how (if at all) would I get the sound from the FT-450 to the other computer in the house and vice versa? I don't want to use the Internet itself. Any help would be appreciated. I may not have explained the situation correctly, so ask for more info if I need to clarify. Thank you.

eHam Forums / Digital / What's the purpose of using SignaLink USB with HRD?
|
on: July 28, 2010, 08:59:25 PM

|
I don't see the reason for using SignaLink USB with HRD. I guess I was under the mistaken impression that the receive audio would come out of my computer's speakers, but it doesn't. It just comes out of the radio's speaker. I really had in mind running HRD remotely from another computer in the house wirelessly. I haven't figured out how to get the sound from the radio to the computer in the house. Granted I'm pretty stupid about these things. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Does anyone know of a simple logging program that I can use to keep track of my QSO's? I downloaded XML Logger, but it's way too complicated. I just want to enter all my QSL cards into a file on my computer. I have essentially no programming skills. Thansk for any help.

Has any manufacturer ever considered making a wireless rotator? It may not be possible, but it would sure solve having to deal with the rotor cable. I wouldn't have to be concerned with how to bring the cable into the house. Thanks for any info.

eHam Forums / Misc / ACC plug for FT-101ZD

on: April 01, 2010, 03:18:32 PM

Can any one tell me how to obtain an ACC plug for a Yaesu FT-101ZD? I have borrowed an FT-101ZD from a friend while my own rig is being repaired, and would like to connect it to my AL-811 linear, without having to modify my friend's radio. So I need an ACC plug so I can modify it. Thanks for any help.

I'm trying to join the Ham Radio Deluxe group in Yahoo, but I have typed in five text codes and three audio codes, to no avail. What's the magic for typing in the correct code so I can join? I have successfully joined other groups, but have always had problems typing in the correct code. Thank you for any help.

I do have an FT-450, but I need the CAT cable between a Yaesu FT-990 and the FIF-250C interface. I'm a volunteer at the ham shack of the local Arizona Science Center, and we want to get the FT-990 that is there running with HRD. Thanks for the response.

I would like to operate my FT-450, which is located in my shack in the garage, from my house. I have a Windows XP PC next to my rig in the garage, which has a wireless connection to my Windows XP PC in the house. Is this at all possible? I couldn't find the appropriate forum on the HRD forums list. Thanks for any info.
