eHam Forums / Mods And Repairs / Kenwood TM-271 - cannot store frequencies
|

I recently acquired a used Kenwood TN-271A,and everything works fine except that I cannot store VFO frequencies into any memory location. I followed the instructions in the manual, but when I try to store any VHF repeater frequency into memory, they do not store. I have reset the radio twice, but to no avail. I received it with a very full memory of frequencies,so I first erased forty of the memory locations to make room for my own. Howevver I could not store anything into che cleared memory locations. That's when I resorted to resetting the radio. Am I missing something in the manual? Thanks for any help.

eHam Forums / Elmers / Using An Antenna Tuner

I have never used an antenna tuner, so I'm looking for help in using a tuner with my new Ameritron AL-811 linear. I've checked the SWR on my vertical, and though the SWR is not more that 2:1 on 40 through 15, the Ameritron instructions insist that the SWR on any antenna used with an AL-811 muxt be lower than 1.5:1. I'm totally clueless about using one. Thanks for any help

I have seen on the FoxTango list that people are talking about a firmware update (v0165) for the FT-450. If so, could someone please tell me more about it? Thank you.

eHam Forums / Digital / RigBlaster Plus Audio Problem
|
on: May 24, 2008, 06:49:19 PM
|
|
I have checked out the operation of my RigBlaster Plus according to the instructions, but I receive no audio from my external speakers, even though they are plugged into the RigBlaster audio out connection. Other that that, it seems to work ok with PSK31. I can receive PSK31 messages on my computer screen, and when I go into transmit mode, I can see what I'm typing on the screen. Since I have yet to make contact via PSK31, I don't know whether the text that I type is actually being sent (I've only sent three brief CQ's so far). I've checked the speakers with the speaker out connection on my FY-450 and they sound fine. Have I got something mis-wired? Thanks for any help.

eHam Forums / RFI / EMI / RFI form TV sets in the house.

Has anyone found a way to reduce the amount of interference to HF frequencies from TV set horizontal sweep circuits within the house? The TV sets in my house generate lots of interference every 15KHz or so across most HF bands. My favorie 20-meter net happens to fall on top of a 15 KHz signal from the TV sets. Actually, we do have a recent model Toshiba that doesn't seem to generate 15 KHz interference. It happens to be the farthest away from the HF rig, so it could be that the distance itself may keep the interference to a level that is not noticeable. Any ideas? Thanks for any help.
