I've had my MA5B up 2 years. It went together with no problems and went up without bending anything. It has withstood Nebraska winters and 60+ MPH winds on a 2.5 inch mast with a Yaesu G-450A rotor. I have been very satisfied with it. I use it with with my Ameritron AL-80B amp with no problems. One thing I did is pin all joints with #6 SS screws to prevent any windmilling or movement of the elements.

I too use a Yaesu G-450A with a mast mount.

I use the JT65 and JT-Alerts and JT Macros with the DXLabs packages together and they preform flawlessly. Couldn't ask for a better setup. I use them with a SignaLink USB and Icom IC-746. It is all mouse clicking automation once it is setup. Including logging to eQSL and LoTW.

Just an FYI, I have had my MA5B up just over a year @ 32 ft. It has worked wonderfully for me. I have worked all over the world from Omaha, NE with it. On the bands it covers it is always a much better antenna than my 80 meter wire multi-banded at the same height.

7  eHam Forums / Digital / RE: Making XP's built in Internet Time work for JT65-HF on: October 23, 2012, 09:51:09 AM
Thank you both. I may try D4 again as there should be no reason for it not to work. Also, will Atomic.exe  set at boot up?

Also, with my reg mod, would D4 or Atomic.exe be any more accurate than the XP built-in method?

This program usually only needs to be run once. However if you have timing problems just run it and reset everything. I usually will run it if I reboot to make sure things stay in sync but then I usually leave my PC on 24/7 so it is not an issue. I went to this method after I too had problems with D4.

Download Atomic.exe and it will accomplish the same thing without having to edit the registry directly.

>Try to find a new converter with the FDDI chip

I believe you mean FTDI...?

Yes, sorry. I was trying to remember off the top of my head.

HRD is very sensitive to the hardware of the usb to serial converters, if you are using one, when used with Windows 7. You need a converter with the FDDI chip. Prolific chips are known to cause problems in many systems. I went through teh very problem with hardware that was fine under XP but would not work under Win 7 for HRD other programs worked fine with the hardware. Try to find a new converter with the FDDI chip and you should not have any more problems. This assumes an adequate PC and you are using a USB to Serial converter.

I'll add kudos for DX Engineering as well. I ordered an amplifier and tuner from them. The amp was damaged in shipment and the tuner was DOA. Both were in unopened original MFG shipping cartons. DX Engineering had them both picked up and replaced as quickly as possible. Unlike other reports I have seen here I did not have to wait on resolution with UPS to get the damaged equipment replaced.

They are great with information and recommendations as well as filling and shipping orders. Since they stood behind me the last time I just ordered some additional equipment. As I told them they are my vendor of choice when they have what I need.  Usual disclaimers apply, just a satisfied customer.

Thanks Ken and Don for your replies. I thought I was on the right track but I will look into how the 3-500Z likes to be operated.
