1  eHam Forums / Boat Anchors / Want to refurbish a siltronix 1011c on: March 12, 2011, 01:54:12 AM
I was given a siltronix 1011 c a couple years ago by my nephew, it was given to him and was told it was a ham radio. I found out the previous owner (who passed away) used it for 11 meters. I didn't really know what to do with it and even contemplated taking it apart for the power supply, and other parts in it and never got to it. I was recently reading about these radios and found they were built with 11 meters disabled and also heard a guy can modify it to totally eliminate the 11 meter bend with only28.300 and 29.000. MHz on this rig. I heard that these can produce a good clean signal and can be  legally used on 10 meters.
I'm wondering if there is anyone out there that may know where I might be able to find the info to at least revert this back to a legal radio with the 11 meters disabled. I cant seem to find any subjects on this. I would think that this might make a good 10 meter AM Radio if I can get it cleaned up.
2  eHam Forums / Misc / Would modding this amp be legal ? on: July 21, 2009, 09:09:12 PM
I was thinking those big variable capacitors in the amp would be good for somthing. The power supply in the amp would be good to power someones transceiver and that vfo in the siltronics could also probably be used. ?At any rate Im not letting it get back into a cb'ers hands. End of story.

Thanks for the link to part 97,I should have remembered to look there first but not being as active as I used to I tend to forget those things and will have to go over the whole thing again. On a second note there are some good parts in those two boxes to sell or start some sort of project. Thanks again.

My nephew recently was given some radio equipment by a widowed friend. He's not into radios and gave them to me.
They were a siltronics 1011 and a palomar 300a amp.Im pretty sure the Siltronics is illegal to use for anything but I got into a debate about the palomar. I was thinking it may be possible to modify it to use on 10 meters and was told it could not. And more importantly if it could, would it be legal to use on 10 meters. It has been a while since I studied the fcc regs but it seemed I read somewhere you could modify 11 meter equipment to use on 10 meters but not vice versa. If it would be illegal to modify and use on 10 meters then I am wondering why? Wouldnt it be made legal after a mod ? Maybe I need to refresh some things I thought I learned years ago. Thanks for any responses.    Jim
5  eHam Forums / Misc / Are you searching the net for older manuals ? on: June 25, 2005, 03:28:01 PM
I looked all over for a manual for my older yaesu ft2400H without any luck from Yaesu or most other places. I did find a few but they wanted a few bucks for the manuals.
I finally found one at this site in a pdf format.
From what I saw at this site theres a good chance for finding what you might be looking for. Good luck.

6  eHam Forums / Elmers / Yaesu FT-2400 scan delay on: April 25, 2005, 11:08:31 AM
My ft-2400 resumes scanning before the transmitting station unkeys the mike. I dont have the manual but do have a cheat sheet that says how to change scan delay but dosnt tell what the setting should be for listening to the whole transmission without having to keying the mike.
Any help on this would be appreceiated. Thanks
