eHam Forums / Elmers / TS-480 and Rigblaster M8
|
on: April 09, 2004, 10:13:52 AM

Hi
I am trying to get a Kenwood TS-480 to work with my rigblaster M8(with 8 pin mic socket).
The 480 uses a RJ45 socket for the MIC, so I have an adapter(RJ45 to 8 pin) to use with my heil headset. I put all the jumpers in as per the manual and went to test the audio, hard to explain but its not right. When you speak some audio comes out but you can't understand it(listening with headphones on with monitor on).
I had a look on the westmountain radio website and see you can cross over some wires to use the M8(8 pin mic) with RJ45 radios. I tried this but had no luck, the same as before. I have had emails from westmountain but they can't seem to see what could be wrong either.
I tested the rigblaster with a FT1000 this morning and it works fine. Plug the mic in and audio sounds fine.
I'm really stuck here, any help please?
Thanks
Richard

eHam Forums / Elmers / Watson VHF/UHF Antennas?

on: February 28, 2002, 01:34:30 PM

Hello
Watson is the make of equipment for Waters and Stanton. They make all sorts of equipment - Meters, PSU's, Antennas etc.
I have a Watson W-50 VHF/UHF antenna and it works fine, well built, no problems with SWR or anything else. Bought it at a rally(hamfest), checked it before it went outside, put it up, checked SWR and left it, been fine since.
Not sure if you can but them in the USA but I'm sure they will ship equipment if needed.
Good luck

eHam Forums / Elmers / Supporting a tri band beam for /P??
|
on: February 15, 2002, 07:00:53 PM
|
|
Hello
I'm looking for ideas to support a tri band beam when using it /P. The beam will be about 30-40lbs so it needs to be fairly strong.
It can't be anything too heavy due to having to transport it. I have looked at some poles that slot into each other so something like that would be good but open to suggestions.
Looking to get the beam to at least 20ft using guys to support it.
Any ideas??
Richard

eHam Forums / Elmers / Radio interfering with keyboard

Hello
When I use more than about 70W on HF my keyboard starts beeping and the Num, Caps and scroll lock buttons all flash. I think the beeping is that the buffer for the keyboard is full. I can't get an earth here as I'm on the 3rd floor of the house and there isn't anywhere to put a ground rod either. My antenna is a 44Ft doublet using 300Ohm feeder, Rig is a TS-570 and I use a MFJ-941E tuner. Has anyone else had a similar problem, I will be playing around with ferrite rings but has anyone got any other suggestions??
Thanks
Richard

eHam Forums / Elmers / What is the difference in the TS-570 Models
|
on: January 02, 2002, 07:11:54 PM
|
|
The diference is the SG has 6M as the DG doesn't.
Not sure about the power supply rating but if its over 25AMP it will be fine, most 100W rigs take about 20AMPS(some more) on max power so anything over about 20AMP should be ok. Check in the manual for the current drainage on max power, then you will know if your power supply is good enough.

I am looking for a mini beam or a small beam. Looking for tri band, light weight and can be packed down for easy carrying for when going away. I have looked at the reviews section on here, just wondered if anyone knows of any more.
Commercial or homebrew, any ideas??
Thanks in advance

eHam Forums / Elmers / Carrying Multiband Verticals??
|
on: December 17, 2001, 03:02:53 PM
|
|
Hello
I would like to know of some ways to carry a multiband vertical like a HF6V or simular. One thought is a ski bag as they are normally tall enough and will take the weight, does anyone have any ideas for carrying them so they are well packaged but not adding lots of extra weight. It needs to be good enough so that it can be taken on a plane. Perhaps something with a carry handle or strap. Any ideas??
Thanks
Richard

eHam Forums / DXing / Pelican Cases??

Has anyone used a Pelican case with their amateur radio equipment when going away? How did you get on with it, was the foam from the company good enough or did you need more or a different type?
Have any dxpeditions or contest groups used them at all??
Comments and information would be great
Richard
