g'day Alan, open up as to get a look at the matching cap/coil at the base, one of mine has gone off resonance, was 1.6-1 @ 147mhz,  but is now over 3.1-1 @ 147Mhz.  not having much luck separating the base section
Thank you

3  eHam Forums / Mobile Ham / RE: SMART CHARGER fro AUX AGM Battery in Mobile?? on: October 16, 2010, 01:42:56 PM
Why.

The Optima design AGM is one of the best. I suggest you read the data on their web site about charging.

http://optimabatteries.com/product_support/charging.php

Thanks for reply, charging the AGM style battery isn't the issue,  finding a suitable Mimimum RFI radiating DC to DC charger is the task at hand.  there are plenty of 3 STAGE/ 6 Stage Smart chargers designed for AGM batteries, but locating a LOW emmision unit to suit Hf Ham mobile is a problem.

three of the commerical Smart chargers, ( DC-DC)  I have used are terrible, make HF use while it is active , absolutely hopeless,  60 over S9 screeching every 40Khz is hard to suppress.

I have just received an email,  a large manufacturer of Chargers has re hashed/revised their latest product at the manufacture stage to overcome this. this product is available world wide, a VK ham will test it, so I will post any news in regards this.
needed to ask the question here, as you guys get first dibs on good gear, and surely someone must have experienced a DC- DC mobile charging unit, and it's affects on HF HAM freqs.

Thank you for your replies.

ps , I referred to Powersonic USA charging recommendations for longivity of the product
4  eHam Forums / Mobile Ham / SMART CHARGER fro AUX AGM Battery in Mobile?? on: October 15, 2010, 02:14:05 PM
Hi fellas, I would be interested in any comments in regards mobile RV users or anyone running a AUX AGM type battery in their vehicle, the main point of interest to me is the Manufacture name of the BATTERY to BATTERY SMART CHARGER in use, and the amount of RFI generated by the gadget, Brands tested, solutions tried etc etc .
I run a TS-480 and a HI-Q 4/80 MC-1 recently installed in a FORD RANGER 2.5 Ltr Diesel Style side, with a POWERSONIC 111Ah AGM in the tub, I need to use a DC to DC Smart charger to maintain the AGM properties eg; 14.4v charge and float @ 13.6>8 .

I would be very much interested in any info , ideas, in regards this situation.

5  eHam Forums / HomeBrew / Dynamic Boom Mic Insert on: July 05, 2009, 01:54:51 PM
lots of Mics? or hc5- inserts, ?
all I could see on Heilsound site was the HC-104 Coversion kit ,
not necessarly after a HC-5, but if anyone has tried an after market Dynamic pickup, I would be interested.

did you mean HEAPS of Mics etc ,

I was after an insert to install in a TELEX D-950 Aviation headset, wonderful headset, you could use it as a weapon, drop it and it isn't going to explode,

Thank you

Hi all, any of you guys ever come across a Dynamic mic pickup that suits comms audio, HC-5's are rare as rocking horse manure, there must be something out there.

Thank you very much, I can now see my error, I have sent a test email using the address you sent , and no bounce, then I looked and looked as to the difference, on the WEB page, there is a one space GAP after the @ symbol in both address's, maybe for BOT'S,

Thank you, I may need new specs.

10  eHam Forums / Antennas and Towers and more / Yaesu Rotators G-1000DXA/800DXA on: January 26, 2008, 05:01:56 PM
yes thank you Lon, I also seen that, I also rang via VOIP two of the USA top ham retailers and they said NO 220/240 AC tap, so I thought I would ask if an owner had a comment,  ( these maybe later model??)
apparently different sourced Yaesu Rotators have diff setup,
Honk Kong = all set with  240vac with Asian plug, no hassles, different sourced units have different ac supply I was informed, maybe model runs etc,
anyhow thank you very much,

13  eHam Forums / Mods And Repairs / FT-1000MP MK V ON/OFF SW Replacement on: February 09, 2007, 02:38:28 PM
Hi fellas, lets see if I can hit a better batting average on this question, any MK V owners replaced the ON/OFF Sw on the RIG proper?  mine is intermittent ON and sometimes even to turn off it appears to Click in and out, but doesn't make the contact, are the replacement SW a YAESU only part, or like the early Icoms etc a TV on/off type gadget,
also any tips if some one has tread this path before.
also purchasing location if possible..

Best Regards

Thank you Alan, I also rang the NOT free number and I got a recorder, shame really,  I was suitably impressed with the engineering of his Screwdriver antenna, I will let it go as I have made other arrangements,
Thank again.
