1  eHam Forums / Antennas and Towers and more / RE: Yaesu rotator cable connectors on: August 21, 2011, 11:38:40 PM
yes, gentlemen, I bought it new from a dealer in Europe...Despite what written in the manual the box had  a small letter included  saying that the package does not include the cable and/or connectors:)
Thanks for all who advised, now at least I know the connector's P/N and will  buy them separately.

Ilya - 4Z1UF

I have available the 6 pin connector (w/pins), but not the round connector. However, it can be  obtained at Kinetic Technologies of Ohio, LLC

I have an ad posted for the Yaesu rotor connectors here on eHam under my call, W3FRG

Gl in your search,
Tom
Tom,
unfortunately I did not find your ad. Also, could you please give me the P/N for round connector so I could find it on Kinetic web site?

Don,
thanks a lot, I will try them all.
Just curious: am I an only one who received the Yaesu rotator without a cable/connectors?

Ilya,

Why not send an email directly to Yaesu to see if they can help?

customerservice@vxstdusa.com

They may redirect you to a European location, but it's a start.

Don, K2DC

Don, they do not response, probably because I'm not under their jurisdiction. . It was somewhat expected...

 Thanks Peter.
Actually I didn't think about protecting the LNA from inducted voltage across the loop. Actually my loops a planned not to be "tuned", but anyhow...Disconnecting the the supply voltage to the preamp is initial idea but I shall check carefully what the OpAmp  (or any other LNA) can withstand even being un-powered.

Don,
thanks for idea. Being quite "far from civilization"  I didn't think to contact them but now sent them an e-mail and will wait for the answer.
Buying from R&L is really bit expensive, especially considering shipping charges to Israel and local taxes on whole bundle what  will more than double the price.

My recently purchased G-2800DXA does not have either complete cable (as per manual) nor connectors for rotator/controller.
Where/how one can obtain complete cable or at least two connectors for it? The manual does not show even the P/N for them.
 Will appreciate any advice.

I'm trying to study deeper- and even try! Smiley - the receiving loop antennas for low bands. All of them requires low noise amplifiers.
All recommendations that I found on the web are for such LNA's placed close to the transceiver. It means matching balun between the loop and feed line (coax or twisted pair) running down, then struggling with common mode noise on the feed line and after that- amplification of signals +noise by LNA.
The question: did anyone try to place the differential (operational) amplifier at the antenna side, eliminating the need of balun and not amplifying the unwanted noise? Something similar to  ADA4899-1 or AD8432?
I received this advice from antenna pro and wonder why this solution is not popular despite it sounds very logical.

10  eHam Forums / Misc / noisy tuner in FTDX-5000 on: July 21, 2011, 03:02:01 AM
Just put on the table brand new FTDX-5000. The ATU during the tuning process is quite noisy (rumbling noise). Am I an only one experiencing it?

  Hi Dale!
Wow! Thanks a lot! You explained even more than I expected:)
I have  any capacitors for such a job, I underestand that they should "fit" my homebrew PA with 1kW...
Again- thanks a lot. See you on 80/160 very soon:)

Hi Steve!WB2WIK
I live on the top floor of the 10 stories, tower type building:) So there is actually ~3 meters line-of-site from the upper antenna end (feed point) to my table in the shack. I can send a picture to your private e-mail, if you'll let me:)

 Hi Dale!
Thanks a lot for your answer.
"parallel-tuned tank circuit with the coax
either tapped up onto the coil or link coupled".
Could you explain this bit more deeply?

Also, what are expected volumes of coil and capacitor for L-shaped match? I think I'll go for this configuration. Since I have beems for 40~10 meters I don't need really "multiple" bands, other than 80 and 160.

Hi guys!
I found a lot of articles but nothing concrete, mainly theory...
Here is the set-up: 82 meters of wire, fed from the upper end (about 35 meters high), running at some angle downwards, the lower end about 10 meters above the ground. So, I have app. full wave length for 80 and half-wave for 160. I'm dreeming to make it work on both bands and to feed by coax (need not more than 10m to get to the shack).

1) How the matching circuit (at the feed point) should look like?

2)Is it necessary to trim the wire lenght to the resonance at one of the bands?

3) Am i right that the good radials system is not essential for this type of antenna? Actaully, I have a large "mirrors" for solar water heating very close to the feed point, sized about 10x10 meters, made of aluminum/copper; in addition they are electrically grounded.

Will appreciate your response and time.

15  eHam Forums / Antennas and Towers and more / Yaesu G1000 conversion to 220V on: December 07, 2005, 03:23:13 AM
  Hi guys!
Could somebody advise please how to change the connections inside the  standard G1000 controller in order to use it with 220V? The manufacturer claims that this is a buit in option, but on the device clearly written 110V ONLY (!) and no explanation in the manual.
 Thanks in advance.
