....aah, but you didn't see that I have the "C" model and not the "AB" ones. I also saw this article but don't think it applies to the model I have. Thanks anyways! Bryan WB8ISG

I just obtained a used UHF amplifier, a KLM 10-70C. Since I can't find much about this amp via a Google search, any info would be much appreciated--freq. (I believe it's 70 cm), power in and power out, even some sort of operating manual. Thanks! Bryan

eHam Forums / Misc / 12v battery constant voltage maintainer

Does anyone remember the article in QST describing a device that is used when operating off a 12V supply that keeps the voltage constant? The circuitry keeps the voltage constant even as the battery discharges (to a pont!). A ham had built this and began to sell them commercially--around $125 I think, and it was discussed in QST in just the last year or two. I have gone crazy trying to find it! Any help here would be much appreciated...Thanks!

eHam Forums / Elmers / Yaesu FT897D-suggestion for best base mic?

I have a new FT897D and am somewhat underwhelmed by the supplied hand microphone. Any suggestons for a quality base desk microphone that won't break the bank and can be easily attached to this rig? (it has the newer "phone jack" type of mic plug). Thanks! Bryan S. WB8ISG

eHam Forums / Elmers / low pass filter

Just a very quick question...where is the best place to put an in-line low pass filter? Should it be right after the transmitter, or, if using a linear amp, just beyond the linear (and just before the antenna tuner)? Thanks! Bryan WB8ISG

Thanks to Tom L. for his response. I talked to the people at Ameritron today and ordered the 704 interface and the appropriate cable. Thanks again! Bryan WB8ISG

eHam Forums / Elmers / Yaesu FT897 to linear hookup

Sounds like a simple question but it has me a bit perplexed. I have a new Yaesu FT897 and an older Dentron GLA-1000B linear amp. My problem is hooking the two together! The Yaesu has provision for "ACC" which is a 3.5mm 3 pin jack (tip is ext ALC, mid part is TX/rec, and base is GROUND, and is to be used for hooking to a linear or tuner. I have the Yeasu cable fo this; the end terminates in a phono plug which fits into the Dentron (marked "RELAY"). The Yaesu key jack is also a 3.5mm 3 pin jack. I assumed that if I used a two pin jack instead to my straight key, it would short to ground, complete the circuit and trip the relay and the linear would come on-line. Can't seem to get this to work, however. If I short the phono plug on the linear, the relay trips and the linear comes up--just can't seem to get it to work as I have described. Any ideas here? Would it be reasonable just to home brew a cable with a 3 pin jack to fit the key jack on the rig and only use the two needed to use the keyer? Any suggestions would be much appreciated! Thanks! .....sorry everbody! I figured out how to do this as soon as I posted my problem. I merely needed to turn on the "extended memory" in memory option #1 to enable me to see all the menu option numbers.
I know--read the da-n manual first.....sigh Bryan

eHam Forums / Elmers / FT-907 New rig--quick question

I just got the FT-897 yesterday--and I've been going throught he manual and checking out the menu mode. As you know, you hold down the "F" key for a second or so to enter the Menu Mode, then use the "MEM/VFO" knob to scroll through the numerous menu choices. The problem is, a number of the menu number choices are not displayed. For example, I can consecutively scroll through 22, and then it skips to 26. How do I access 23-25? I know how to prevent them from being seen, but how do I get them all back up for review? I's probably something really easy, but I need a bit of help here.. Thanks! Bryan, WB8IG
