Hello,
Looking for someone experienced to help me plan a bare-bones/beginner shack in the 53207 area.
Need help picking & planning best and most cost effective rooftop 2m antenna installation.
Been a quiet Ham for many years and this would be most appreciated.
Thank you in advance for considering.

1/4 wave on 6m, FM end of the band is 54 inches.
So would the CB antenna be a half wave on 6m?
Could I use "as is" ?

Some one told me once that I could take an old CB magmount antenna, and mod it for 6m. I can't seem to find any info on the net about this...
Anyone have any idea's?
Thanks!!

Yea, I think so. That helps my understanding a little more though. This is going to take some work, but I think with the help I'm getting on this board, I'll be OK! :-)
Thanks guys!

Yes, I did quote it directly. Thank you for your quick reply! I will probably have more questions as I go, I am attempting to get by without purchasing the study book for now. If I don't pass or am not prepared by July 26th, I will spend the $15 at AES for the book!
Thanks again!

eHam Forums / Elmers / Formula question - General Class Exam

I am studying for my General exam w/o a study guide. I have the Ham University software, which is an excellent program. However, it only tells you wether your answeres are corret or incorrect so I am looking for the formula used in question G8B07 which is: "What is the frequency deviation for a 12.21 -MHz reactance-modulated oscillator in a 5-KHz deviation, 146.52-MHz FM-Phone transmitter?
The answer is 416.7 Hz, but what is the formula to get that answer?
Thanks!

John, The TV antenna idea seem's to be working very well. It has me on the air until I can build something a little more suitable for the next 9 months here. I have it hanging about 3 or 4" from my ceiling near the north window. I am on the 2nd floor.
Thank's for everything guys!! 73's -Mark, kb9woo

Why? Well, I was trying to go with what I have in the house. I have hook-up wire, but no twin-lead. I want to put a j-pole above my drop ceiling in an upstairs bedroom. I was not sure if regular twin lead would handle the power of my mobile. Thank you very much for your information. Though, I'm thnking I will go out and buy some twin lead, I'm sure it will make my project a little bit easier!
Thanks again!! 73's

I have seen plans for a J-pole made out of that twin lead antenna wire that can be bought at about any electronics store. My question is: would the same theory work with regular wire laid out side-by-side. Maybe affixed to something. Would a thicker gauge wire handle more power, if so, what gauge would be good for 10w on 2meters.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, any comments or maybe other ideas would be greatly appreciated!!
