1  eHam Forums / Emergency Communications / Go Kit Part 2 on: January 03, 2010, 07:19:07 PM
Hi Forum members,

I hope you all had a good holiday season. Well as my subject suggests its round 2. I have almost all my radios now bought I am working buying the last 2 right now. SO my next question is I want be modular so I can operate in either sag/mobile or stationary for example: Net Control, Rest Stop, Shelter.

I am highly highly thinking about getting one of those AB-577.

Ben

Thank you again Everyone for the reply!

I am going with the 7900R because its cheaper to go that option than going with the 8800R which is 389 or something like that. I have to go with whatever my money allows me to.

This is the best option I could deal with.

Also I should clraify one area. For ARESMAT we answer directly to the SEC. ARESMAT doesn't have a DEC. It only has a EC then goes direct to the SEC.

Hi Rodney,

Thank you for the reply! That has not even been talked about up here in Central Minnesota at all. I to am looking NBEMS also. I just learned that the new radio that yaesu will be introducing is not replacing the 8800R so I think I may go with a couple of 8800R's. Say maybe just 10 or so.

so thats what I am thinking of! I want to test NBEMS but I doubt anyone knows what the heck it is.

Thank you guys for the input. As far as what is in the Response plan for the State I have no clue! I guess I am not really pervy to that information. Some thing I sould ask our new SEC here in Minnesota.

I am looking at right now getting several FT-7900r's for radios. Nice this is they are cheap!

thank you again

Hi group,

Question........I am forming my go kit. So my question is this in a state with 200+ analog Repeaters and roughly 8-10 D-star repeaters should I consider getting D-star enabled radios?

There are no D-star repeaters anywhere close to me I should mention to.

Well now that my radios are fianlly picked out.. I can start figureing out where to go from here.....

I am going to be going with an undisclosed amount of IC-92AD's, then I will with a number BD-35 amps. Then after that I will get a handful of mobile radios that can be used for crossbanding.

so thats where it stands right now. if there are any SEC's out there that have put together a Statewide ARESMAT or DRT team I would like to visit with you because I am putting one together here in Minnesota.

thank you Guys,

For the reply! What if though I don't want to deploy all my radios in one shot? I like the last gentelmen's reply with his small set up. If you contact me directly I can (email is good on qrz) I can send you my go kit break down sheet because I have mulitple kits.

another question,

Should be considering Dstar radios as part of my go kits? Here in MN there aren't many around. One ham is trying to push the use of digital though.

any thoughts? I would be looking at the ID-880? Even though I'm a yaesu person.

Ok here's my next question I get closer....

I found out some info on the VX-8R that might swade me to go down this route with using Handhelds. Does anyone know what a 100w VHF Amp might draw. I sent and email to Mirage and I am waiting to hear back from them. here's what I am thinking...

FT-897D         HF
FT-100          Mars/Red Cross (if Needed)***
FT-7800R        Spare Radio***
FT-8800R        Crossband
VX-8R   (9)     Spare Handhelds & 2-3 for base use
B-320-G         Mirage VHf Amp.
BD-35   (5)     Mirage Dual band Amp

Antennas:
Rads 9-11/A1
Cushcraft AR270B (2)

Coax:

4-100ft sections of LMR-400 Flexweave.

Hi everyone,

Last weekend I operated the MS150. After that event seen somethings that would help communicatons. So I have decided to jump feet first into this project. Maybe this might be over board but I don't think so. The question come back to power how to do that. I really don't have one set set mission in mind other than just to be ready for anything and everything. I want to be ready for not just operating off grid but on gird as well.

my gear:

FT-897D
FT-100**
FT-7800R**
FT-7900R
FT-7900R
VX-8R (4 or 5)
VX-7R **

Good Morning Forum Members,

This question is for anyone who uses a SG7500NMO. Do you know if it is a gold plated strap for inside the connecotr or is it a strap? I ask because I also own 2 7900 and when I tried to mount the 7900 on the side of the truck. The SWR shot up through the Roof. yet whe I mounted the antenna permantly to the truck it was fine.

can any 7500 owners comment?

thank and 73,

KØBLR
