I've  already did application-desinged on those systems for government buildngs AND COMERCIAL BUILDINGS in the 1980s.
2  eHam Forums / Misc / RE: Storing/organizing cables, test leads, jumpers etc ? on: May 18, 2013, 06:22:41 AM
RE:  K4JJL

I ALSO use zip-lock bags for lose/small wires, connectors, plugs, solder, etc (just about anything small).  I then keep the bags in plastic tool boxes-out of the way...

I have hf & vhf transceivers, two-power supplies, antenna tuner, three-indicators, two-computers, two-monitors, two-printers, fax machine, typewriter, numerous electronic books, etc., so I have room to move around Smiley
3  eHam Forums / Antennas and Towers and more / RE: ARRL Antenna Book on: May 18, 2013, 05:48:12 AM
I totally agree with all the comments about the ARRL Antenna Book.  Just attained the 2012 version (been about 12-years for me). Details & formulas HAVEN'T changed, at all; just adds & costs !!!!

I'm 61-years old, licensed 43-years and an EE
4  eHam Forums / Amplifiers / new to amps on: May 12, 2013, 05:53:49 AM
I am new to amplifiers.  Plan on getting the AL-80B for my first introduction into using one; have I made a good chose Huh

Also, for the AL-80B operation (my xmtr is IC-7410), is/are any additional
devices I require for it to operate with my rig Huh

I've been licensed for over 40-years, BUT never used one before.  I'm 60 years old.

I only have a 120v circuit & only operate digital-modes
5  eHam Forums / Digital / RE: Can USB-Signalink & FLDIGI do CW??? on: April 29, 2013, 03:34:41 PM
RE:  WD8OQX statement...Thank you for the info.  I already have the SLCABNC cable by Signalink & a plug for the "...direct keyed CW..."  Because of my handicap, I'm very slow at certain items.

RE:  VE1FMC statement...Thank you for your info, also.  BUT what is the website to view & order the "...K1EL Winkeyer USB ..." website ??

6  eHam Forums / Digital / Can USB-Signalink & FLDIGI do CW??? on: April 25, 2013, 06:36:13 PM
I hope this is correct area to ask my question?

Because of my handicap, I can only operate MACHINE  CW CODE...
I have a USB-Signalink , xmtr is Icom IC-7410, and use FLDIGI software...

Can the USB-Signalink (thru FLDIGI software) perform to manually key my
IC-7410 for CW mode Huh?

(i also use Olivete, PSK31, & RTTY...I apologize for any typing or spelling
errors, because of my handicap...I've been licensed 43-years)

7  eHam Forums / CW / RE: What's Old is New Again--Even Me!! on: April 08, 2012, 06:29:25 AM
I just love reading ALL the responses to this subject...  It reminds me of my earlier days in radio...

Today, I am handicap with a rare form of MS (cannot speak clearly & no muscle control; Muscle Atrophy with Tay-Sachs disease), still love CW as my chosen mode...Because I cannot use any type of key or bug, operate CW (include all other digital modes, as well) via the computer with software...

8  eHam Forums / Station Building / RE: 746Pro died twice, DO I DUMP IT? on: April 06, 2012, 06:09:06 PM
I had an IC-736 xcvr, for abt 15-years; never any real problems with the radio, just had new memory batteries & realignment. Traded it in (which I should never had done).

Got the IC-7410 for HF.  Already had the IC-v8000 for 2-meters.  Love the receive on HF.

Before the ICOM rigs, had Yaesu and Kenwood radios.
Again, never any real problems with any of them.

Guess it's just having good luck Smiley

9  eHam Forums / CW / RE: What's the activity like on 30 & 17 meters? on: April 01, 2012, 04:32:45 PM
I totallty agree that, both 30M & 17M are great bands (without the contests) !!!

I have been in amateur radio for over 40-years & love that they finally made these bands CONTEST FREE....

10  eHam Forums / Computers And Software / RE: I Bought A New Personal Computer-Should I Bother Adding Serial Ports? on: March 11, 2012, 04:12:03 PM
I've acquired a PC in Dec, 2010...It had NO RS232 ports, only 4-USB ports.  I also have fairly new accessories (7) & not one of them have connections using the RS-232...Had to purchase an additional USB-Extender (Cool, since I use my PC for additional tasks...Glad I did...

11  eHam Forums / CW / RE: Future of CW on: March 08, 2012, 04:25:16 PM
I am in total agreement to what everyone has said ...

I am NOT a DX'r or contester, just love the CW mode...

My friends and I got our Novice tickets in the middle 60s; and still enjoy it today (being cell phones, computers, & the different modes of operations)...We learned the code in our teenage years, ON OUR OWN and enjoyed it !!!

CW still fascinates us, today

KC0RZW--yes, that's what I meant. Will checkout site.

K6LCS--that building is in a suburb, it's only about
5-miles from me (I'm just 1-block inside city limits)
            Will also checkout

Thank you, both for the information
13  eHam Forums / Misc / DIGITAL LAWS FOR EMER. FREQ ???? on: March 02, 2012, 06:32:15 AM
I have been looking for the new FCC laws regarding digital operation/modes for emergency vehicles, BUT can-not find on any site.

When does it take effect Huh?

Does anyone have the URL (FCC) site for it Huh?

I'm also a scanner enthusiast

14  eHam Forums / Antennas and Towers and more / DOES G5RV (80-10m) NEED BALUM TO OPERATE ??? on: February 29, 2012, 07:41:47 AM
I've heard that the G5RV Antenna is fine for multiband operation.

I have detailed papers, from several sources, BUT never any mention using a balum for its operation.

DOES IT REQUIRE A BALUM FOR IT TO FUNCTION  Huh?

I have a high-power tuner (handles up to 2KW) and I only operate less than 100 watts-all modes on 80-10M

I also have the IC-7410, it has both IF roofing filters; just love the filtering for all modes on all bands Smiley...Agree with what WE1X said about the xmitting code speed; I only go about 15wpm...The receive is great...
