3  eHam Forums / Elmers / RE: Dummy question about how a Fan Dipole works? on: July 08, 2011, 10:08:50 PM
Door # 1 is open and you can see it goes into a Biker bar, filled with very unhappy, irritated bikers, looking
for an opportunity to rough someone up and keep them out of "their bar"; clearly not a friendly environment....you don't want to go there.

Easily spotted when you see the Megacycles parked outside.

6  eHam Forums / Elmers / RE: Use of an SO-239/PL-259 as a high voltage connector on: March 26, 2011, 05:29:20 AM
Please change that very dangerous set up.

High voltage requires the correct connectors.

(1) If I remember correctly, the BBC is totally funded by the UK government.

If only that was true, it is financed by charging a licence fee, this is basically a TV receiver tax that is payable annually.

I think that you will find that he used a device called a transverter.

But the radios that you mention are based on CB engineering and are possibly on the FCC banned list.

Please check before commiting time and money to any project involving the rigs mentioned.

If I remember correctly the extra board provided an improvement to AM receive.

EFHWA = End Fed Half Wave Antenna, perhaps.
11  eHam Forums / Elmers / IC-E7 (P7A) - PMR446 TX possible? on: April 13, 2009, 08:56:01 AM
Trouble is that the PMR 446 service has to be used with "type approved" equipment.

Amateur radio equipment is not type approved for that service.

For the benefit of our American friends PMR 446 is a european type of FRS.

12  eHam Forums / Elmers / IC-E7 (P7A) - PMR446 TX possible? on: April 13, 2009, 01:26:01 AM
It is possible, just requires the removal of some links in the battery compartment.

The usual warnings about legality etc apply here.

15  eHam Forums / Misc / FT 450 AT in Europe on: October 30, 2007, 12:22:21 PM

Be careful there are usually more than one European version of most radios.

There are restrictions in band coverage coverage and or power output for some countries

CHECK BEFORE YOU PART WITH ANY CASH.
