eHam Forums / Misc / Oki Denki UTV-1200 BII, 1296 MHz Transverter

I have bought a second hand "OKI Denki UTV-1200 BII" 1296MHz transverter but it has no manual and I can't seem to find any info on the WWW about it. I know absolutely nothing about it or how to operate it. If anyone has a copy of the manual in English I would appreciate a copy and I'm happy to pay for it, or if you have experience using one and could help me to understand it better I would be happy with that. I have wired 12v to it and it powers up ok, connected it to my 2m radio but I can't see how it "Transverts" the 2m transmission to 23cm without some other means of connection other than the antenna patch leads. The 5 pin Din socket on the back has pin 1 marked as + (12v) Pin 3 as PTT & Pin 5 as - (12v ground) Only 2 crystals are fitted and apparently 145.00 TX in becomes 1296MHz TX etc That is all that is hand written on the box.
Thanks if you can help.

eHam Forums / Misc / RE: Kenwood AT-250 TUNER

I performed this simple trick years ago and it's been working since on several different radios, all I need to do is push the Tune button in the appropriate band and away it goes. I have noticed though that the tuner has a high tolerance for antennas with low SWR that is close to resonance and just won't tune that last bit of SWR out of the circuit. Otherwise I have been very happy with the AT-250, it's pone of the best tuners I've ever had.

eHam Forums / RFI / EMI / RE: Plasma TV EMI

So has anyone got a practical fix for the RFI from the Plasma TV's. My Plasma and others in the local area seem to flatten my needle on the low bands. If that wasn't bad enough we had Solar Panels fitted; the grid connect type and man do they cause QRN 20db/9 every 25 kc on all bands and 60db over on 29FM. I asked the installer before we went ahead with it if the inverter would cause any RFI to my Ham station and he said no. I guess he had no idea what RFI was. At least I can turn it all off if I want to use the radios, but I can't sneak over to my neighbor and turn theirs off, oh the pain of modern life. I want to go back to the days when we complained about S3 QRN.

Is there a High Power Auto tuner like the Icom AH4 tuner that can sit at the base of a vertical, and take 500 Watts from an Amp?

How do I interface the IC-706 MkII G to run APRS from my mobile? Anyone have a diagram on connecting the radio to modem and GPS, PC etc etc I have never run APRS, and know ZIP about it, but as usual we find out as much as we can and teach ourselves as we stumble through.
Thanks for your help on this and my last one as well. 73 de VK4KAC, Bernie

Have you thought about remote mounting the radio on the tower and just having the radio head in the shack. That way all the power will enter the antenna.

I want to use my PK232MBX again after many years of neglect. Will it work with XP ? If so where can I get the software? I last used it on an old 486 and the floppy disk is a bit old now 5.5 drives don't exist anymore. Cheers, de VK4KAC, Bernie
