I'm running a carolina windom at 40 ft flat top with ft 847 with mfj 962D doing at 100 watts the windom is homemade from friend of mine 4:1 baun mark is his name made the antenna homemade i remember one i think i heard saying 45 ft long can't remeber how long other side of back yard ! all he saying it way better then G5RV that i had up there at 35 now with diffrence antenna at 40 i did talk guys on 3975 saying the band is changing plus S meter is moving more than last night.i think band is low the reason they can't hear me !! i hope that helps! also the trees are at 40 ft high same high as my widom is can't go no higher it would be nice if it would  the tuner tunes good !! anywere from 1.3 to 1.0 or flat 0 73 Jackie N4MJG WWW.N4MJG.COM |

Atfer i have check swr which is flat 0 swr now i hear people talking but can't seem to hear me unless band is bad nosey band maybe that why they can't hear me pushing 100 watts what i'm running .i thought some wrong with new tuner well 962D it works fine i can hear them no problem just they can't hear me...i thought for min it maybe band is changing that is why they can't even hear me !! any thought?

I just upgraded a couple of months ago and had held a general ticket since about 1993. I was off the air for about eight years. My cw ability came back and I have gotten better than before. I reccomend you make one or two cw contacts each day. You will be back better than ever. Like I said before, well sent cw is well spaced. Take the time to send well and others will be glad to work you. I know I can work faster ops when they are very good. I also enjoy a slow qso with someone who very good at sending slower speeds. Keep trying it will be great fun going through the process of gaining speed while making qso and meeting new friends. 73, Mike.

Just wondering if anyone can slowdown just for me? fix to get back on cw i use to do good sending the code,just little rusty for right now ! i know it's little too slow for most of you guys. my speed is round 7wpm.
Would that hurt you guys?

I had display went out i can hear them but all of sudden stop working the ht is so old i had mine since 2001 now i have new ht for xmas vx 8r is replacement from vx 5 r to vx 8r

When i took my general back 2007 and pass took me about 5 years trying to pass ! in 07 i did pass it !
I take test to see if i can pass it ! i fail big time. i didn't gave up ! took 1 year off and just got back to study again just started study 2 weeks ago !
I'm no brainer on math or eletronics stuff i know a little but thats all i know.
If i can pass the extra ! you can do it too.

I too got from him 2700 guess what i did i went to bank they told there is no water ink and they told they will sent it off have it destroyed, they told me that i got scam but radio is still here, this person think that waiting for me to western union wired fund . I THINK NOT !. person don't even know i did went to bank and they took care of it for me !!!

Hi Russell,
I have VX8R that i asked for christmas ! i think you like this HT but you have to read real good order to understand this ht but once you understand this HT than it's easy little Ht so far so good i never have any problem with this HT ! i hope that helps....

I found one site saying 15kg but it feel like round 30 lbs,this sucker is heavy .but it built to last !!! so what do ya think it does weight?

I'm on thight budget. only way i can buy is sell 847 and fc-20.Anyway i like to know what do like and hate with this rig.

The amp is not for me ! the only radio i have that has tubes is the ft-102 put out about 150 watts or close to it.i won't buy it or need for it !
Most people are still using it even today,that is the reason i got off from cb ! they are running too much power ! trying walk over them or even me at times .
But some amp are made for hams anyway ,but not for cb atleast i have not seen one.
