1  eHam Forums / Computers And Software / We need a GOOD linux logger -- HELP on: October 18, 2008, 04:29:15 AM
I have been working on a LAMP based logbook. Lack of freetime at this moment holds me from further development. It's absolutely not perfect ( I know ) but it's a start .... .

You can take a look at www.lihalo.org  .

3  eHam Forums / Computers And Software / The state of Linux apps for Ham Radio on: October 16, 2004, 03:29:15 PM
LiHaLo (LInux HAmLOgbook) uses MySQL , not Postgresql.
It is made in my free time and I'm not a professional programmer.
My job has nothing to do with pc's.
Learned everything by "try and error" and reading/learning a lot.
Isn't that what Ham Radio is all about ? Learning new stuff ?

Every Linux App. is  Open Source : so YOU CAN make things better!
(No way you can do that with windows-apps. You can't tweak the Apps. to your needs, because you don't get the source !!)
You can sit and wait for others to do it, and complain ~ and be a Homer Simpson look-alike. Are you can start studying and try to make things better then they are right now.

And yes : it takes a little bit more time before things work in linux compared to windows. But is also takes a little more time before they stop working ......... .

Good.

Now stop buying and paying for your software.
You can run a lot of Linux Ham Radio apps. on your Mac OS X.(I know : not everything is available yet)
Go to http://fink.sourceforge.net/ or go to
http://www.opendarwin.org/
(fink is easier)  and start with Open Source.
Get X-chat and ask for help on the channels.

The Freedom is right there.
You only have to reach out for it.

Have fun.

Hoi,

I think you could try building it without ssl support;

"  make --WITHOUT__SSL && make install  "

should do the trick.

Hope it helps.

For those of you who are interested in a logbook for linux, take a look at www.lihalo.org .
There is a tarball downloadable.
(BETA).
