Originally I had a stressed moxon antenna for 6 meters on a 15 foot mast in the back yard. Depednig on the time of day, I would get about S5 of noise and I could hear a local beacon reasonably "loud".
Moved the antenna up on the chimney of a two story house, using the same length of RG-8 I was using when the antenna was in the back yard.
Noise now is at S7, and it pretty much oblitarates the local beacon signal.
I am using a Ten-Tec 1208 transverter for six.
It makes sense that the noise level will be higher, but I would expect to be able to receive better too.
Right now I am leaning toward the 1208 being overloaded.
Additional ideas/ suggestions ( other than the obvious- get the antenna down from the roof) are welcome
