My Telex has one also. Do not remember, and since retirement, have no books. But, call your airport and/or find a local avionics shop. Ask them for that info. A lot of mechanics/avionics techs have wired in jacks for headset combos. Should be standard, but darned if I remember...CRS syndrome.

Dave, 2 suggestions. Email Icom of America or get on the QTH.Net site and sign up for the Icom Reflector.
Sold my 910H, as I seldom used 430SSB like I thought I would. It is a good radio. But, I fear that the European version enables the 1750 Tone, while the Americas version does not have it. You have 2 of these questions on this site...
But, query Icom or the reflector.

Yes they do. For further info, look at the Icom Reflector on QTH.net.
The only radios that do not are the 706IIg and 718. No built in tuner and bandpass filters selected slightly different.

Chris an Icom IC-910 is a great radio for sats. Has a switch for that selection. It has indivudual inputs on the rear for UHF & VHF antennas. External preamps and the ability to have a 1.2G unit installed.

At the opposite side (end) of the feed point a ciol will work. Don't have the exact dimensions, but one of the guys at the Predator shootout had one.
You might ... for grins check out the KJ9T.com website and see if the info is there...it was going to be posted.

W8KFM repaired one for K8BMN in Lodi. Had Power Supply filter problems. Might try that area..
His initial reports were pretty much as you describe.

3db gain....what frequency..? An antenna that is only just over 13 feet long (or high) will not have any gain on on any of the frequencies listed. It is just not long enough to even be considered a vertical colinear array. Not sure where they make their claim to 3DBd...!

Why.....for the power of FRS radios, you can get a very nice 70cm rig for not a lot of money. This question keeps coming up everywhere. Not much power out of an FRS rig, why would anyone want to waste their time (ok...I just wanna do it!)....as I said...waste your time. Build an antenna and make a 70cm rig really perform.
You would most likely have to change a crystal and retune the radio. Do you have test equipment to do this?

eHam Forums / Elmers / 10 and 20 meter dipole
|

Another idea, which is one I use, is add another chunk of wire and make 2 dipoles from the same center support for 20 or 15 or 40 or 80..!
I use a dipole with sections for 10/20/40/75 and it works fine. Low SWR. This idea is also in several ARRL handbooks and Antenna books.
If you have the room, go this way. Traps tend to be lossy, but do work if you are short on space.
Steve has the idea..! I think that is what he has used in the "olde" days...!!

eHam Forums / Elmers / gain

To further the comment of Pete, if you want gain, you need either more elements in the direction you are wanting to talk to, or, build long dipoles, per many ARRL and other publications. Long dipoles can get you some gain. But, as Pete said, you need to focus that energy, and a single wire (except in some circumstances) just don't do that.
