61  eHam Forums / Mods And Repairs / RE: Recommendations for repairing/covering LCD scratch on: December 23, 2009, 11:56:02 PM
Dave,

I have used the below on my airplane, motorcycle, cell phone screens and it works very well. Never tried it on a radio for a scratch, but I clean the LCD on my radios with it without a problem.

Just another version of the "snake" antenna. And why anyone would compare this to a real Zep antenna beats me. It's just like calling a doublet a double or  extended double "Zep" Mercy!

"Who's Lexus?? You mean recipients??? I'll bet $$ that you have no idea what your talking about. Out here in reality, there's >12% unemployment and a LOT of skilled, hard working people are hurting."

I DO know what I am talking about since I have been going to several food banks in this town looking for a person to do light housework. Granted $10 an hour free transportation, free Lunch is not a lot, but no takers? I contribute my fair share to those food banks, the local woman’s shelter and more. I do realize that hard working people are out of work, but don't see those folks going to the food bank, wearing new $300 sneakers  and talking on an IPod at least not around here. I don't see those folks in the supermarket using USDA cards to buy food in one card and paying cash for the booze, cigarettes, and cake from the deli in the other cart …and yes loading it into the Lexus.

Oh, and by the way as a law enforcement officer for over 38 years I do know what I’m talking about!

...and don't forget that you can NOT use ham radio as a paid employee in behalf of your employer. Now let the flames begin!

"Without an understanding of propagation, an HF DXer with great ears, rig, and antennas will waste a lot of time."

Also working only stuff on the cluster and pile ups is a wast of time for a smaller station. Checking the cluster will tell you the propagation. Find a clear frequency and call CQ DX, it's much more fun to have the DX try to break the pile up calling your station!

"I don't wait for sunspots. 160, 80 and 40 meters are doing better than ever. Those are the bands to be on."

I agree! seems I get a nose bleed above 40 meters (:-)

Pesssky little sunspots are sneaking up again, 2 more yesterday.....At least we will have this and next winter before this cycle goes bad!

It's amazing the amount of bugs that invade the traps on my A3S every year. Have you checked the traps?

It could be that I am also overly polite. I always clear on phone and SK on CW. As a matter of fact, to really get the pro comm's mad I QRT on phone!

It seems that you are listening to the wrong people. In my group we discuss intellectual and technical matters which at times require long responses. We do not discuss the last lumbago attack, request endless audio checks or comment on missions to the bathroom!

I buy a box of Cracker-Jacks every year, the prize in some is an Extra Class license.

Sounds like a charger of some kind. Most likely a switcher. The worst one I ever heard was for an electric scooter. Have you checked any wall-worts that may be pluged in.

I think some folks might want to read the ITU rules if the contact is DX.
