1  eHam Forums / Elmers / RE: Kantronics Kam Plus Wiring Question on: January 26, 2013, 09:24:24 AM
It has been  years since I had a Kam but thinking back, do you have the port (on the TNC) enabled for transmit? Have you set the mode to the non-newuser mode? Do you have your callsign set in MYCALL? Is DWAIT set to some odd value?
You might also check TXD. Try the DISPLAY (M, H etc.) commands and look for any strange settings. There are some 30 or som settings from the KAM and KAM+. After 10 or so years I have mostly forgotten them.

If you find an email address for Bert, Ve1ama, he can likely answer this for you.

I wish you the best!

It may be necessary to run the radio in VOX mode. I had the same setup about a year ago but used the port on the rear of the radio for the TNC. Everything worked fine. I have since however lost interest in ham radio and put all of my stuff away. You will also need to lower the input from 232 to the radio. But that is probably eaily done.

I hope this my be of of some help to, Scott

So, what would use 125.1 KHz for signaling along a mains line? Tanakasan

Electric Utility meter maintenance or signaling perhaps?

Here the utility offers a control box where they can cycle off AC units in the summer for a few minutes to ease the electrical load. I am told this is done at a low, low frequency due to distance and and interference.
7  eHam Forums / Site Talk / RE: Link reviews seem overly critical on: July 05, 2010, 07:27:25 AM
If a call sign was to needed to do the review, there would be far lass trash posted. If I give a site a one or a five, I append my call to the rating. Futhermore, it is for rating the site, not the product.

Confused said "Dam. Even more new stuff to learn about. I've never heard of a profit toy? How does one define a profit toy? What other companies are profit toys?"

Proffit toys are investments made by several large investors with a significant amount of disposable cash. The "Toy" is just that. Something to play with and experment with. Differing advertising schemes, marketing plans etc. It works as a model for the devolopment of larger investments.

I figured any ham would have known this. All being engineers, doctors, attorneys etc.

And for R/S being out of business in a year... People, especially hams, have been saysing this since the late 70's
9  eHam Forums / Elmers / RE: ReMounting Larsen Glass Antennas on: March 30, 2010, 04:55:31 AM
Local body shop. 1/16" body side moulding tape. Free generally. Cut out any areas that need cutting and apply. Worked for me twice on rentals with the same antenna.
10  eHam Forums / Misc / RE: Radio Shack for Sale on: March 29, 2010, 05:37:25 AM
I wonder whah happened the name change to "THE SHACK"

Anyway, Radio Shack is a proffit toy for big investors. As long as they can buy a 20 or 30 cent item and retail it for $4.95, they ain't goin out of business. Audio related stuff has a tremendous markup. 3-foot RCA to RCA cable - general purpose costs $0.83 and retails for $5.49. This is stuff made in China and similar countries.
11  eHam Forums / Misc / RE: Has anyone heard of www.eQSL.cc ? on: March 27, 2010, 05:58:47 AM
Perhaps you should have just deleted the email and went on your way.

I've been a member of eqsl since a few months after it started. I've not received ANY form of marketing propaganda. Occasionally I receive a notice of a wating card and that is it. If it's in my log, I confirm it - if it isn't, I delete it. Simple..

It works, quiet well I might add, for me.
12  eHam Forums / Elmers / RE: Hot chassis on: March 27, 2010, 05:49:55 AM
Never worked on the hot chasis G.E. TV from the late 70's to early 80's? Find one, file the polorized line cord plug to where it will plug in either way and see what happens.
13  eHam Forums / Misc / RE: Don't Do Business with Tony Rogozinski, W4OI on: March 24, 2010, 05:21:31 AM
More and more I am finding used car salesman and dope dealers to be more forthcoming than hams. Sad... Very sad.
14  eHam Forums / Elmers / RE: Grounding equipment on: February 27, 2010, 04:34:01 AM
You are going to get a lot of information on this one!
Some right, some wrong...
15  eHam Forums / Elmers / RE: Good comerical made multi band diapole? on: February 14, 2010, 06:40:23 AM
Ditto, fred's comment above. Damn good investment.

Now, WB2WIK/6 said a while back that he could build one of these in no time and for just a couple of bucks. Maybe you can get him to make you one?

Now if you just want to blow some cash, B&W has a $799.00 dipole that will work 160 through 10.
