eHam Forums / Mobile Ham / RE: YAESU FT-1900R?

Alan, Thanks for your input. I really appreciate your taking the time to reply. This one happened to be in use in my shack but will be installed for mobile use. Any radios I operate, whether base or mobile, are mounted with the entire heat sink exposed, enabling maximum ventilation. Next question: Why did Yaesu not address this in the manual and clarify that this is "normal" for this particular model, thereby alleviating much concern which the operator may have? Oh, well..............

Recently I purchased a YAESU FT-2900R. I am experiencing significant "Over-Heating" problems. For instance, in a 35 min. QSO with 10W TX the radio "timed-out" at 151.4 degrees!!! I am now looking to possibly purchasing an FT-1900R. Looking closely at the menus I see that this model has a "TEMP", also. Just wondering if anyone owns one of the FT-1900R's and are experiencing such a high temperature on any sustained QSO's? Thanks, Jerry KF4UJA

I am seriously considering a Tri-Band antenna (2/220/440) for my base station. I have narrowed my choices to the COMET CX333 or the DIAMOND X3200A. So, if any of you have had "hands-on" experience with either of these antennas, I would welcome your input, suggestions, experience, opinions, etc. Also, any suggestions for any other antennas other than these two are welcomed and appreciated. Thank you in advance! Jerry KF4UJA

I'm considering purchasing a 2mtr.& a 220Mhz (sma & bnc). From CheapHam.com. Models: Super Stick II & Super Stick III. Now, I'm concerned about the "stress" factor that these type of antennas would have on both type of connections. I always value the input/experience that any of you might have about this issue of concern to me. Any suggestions/opinions for other options to consider? Thanks, 73 Jerry KF4UJA
