2  eHam Forums / Mods And Repairs / RE: yaesu vx5r on: January 22, 2012, 10:57:28 AM
Hmmm, these guys used to sell them.   http://www.universal-radio.com/catalog/ht/1795.html

Maybe Yaesu doesnt have parts for the 5R anymore....I would call the parts department and see if you can order the keypad.

Good luck.

Call Yaesu :

For Technical Support or Customer Service call, (714)827-7600 between 8AM – 5PM PST For Parts Department call (714)827-7600 (8AM – 5PM PST)

The keypads are known to go bad and it is a cheap easy fix if you can do it yourself.
4  eHam Forums / Boat Anchors / RE: Plastic Clear Coat needed on: January 07, 2012, 07:24:35 PM
Try Minwax acrylic gloss. It is a water based wood finish that should not harm the radio's finish. Maybe somebody makes the same type of clearcoat in a spray.

I think you would be better off with a 240-31 core, it has better low frequency characteristics than the 43 mix.

Here is a link to a book published in 1912 by The Elerctro Importing Co., it is titled "Wireless Course in Twenty Lessons".

http://www.archive.org/details/wirelesscoursein00secorich

The book was written by H. W. Secor, S. Gernsback and A. Lescarboura. It is fascinating reading.

We have come a long ways in 100 years.

10  eHam Forums / Elmers / RE: IC-751A Roofing filter source? on: February 02, 2010, 02:47:32 PM
Oops...I made a typo in my prior post...the crystal filter frequency is 70.4515 MHz  not 70.4514.
11  eHam Forums / Elmers / RE: IC-751A Roofing filter source? on: February 02, 2010, 01:54:59 PM
To be more specific, Inrad sells a board that you can install then add a 70.4514Mhz filter for the first IF. The board is an Inrad-118 PC board.

They do not have a kit for the 751 but the above board and crystal will work FB.

Inrad has filters for the 751.

How is the antenna? Have you checked the SWR and tuned the antenna?
14  eHam Forums / Elmers / RE: ten tec pegasus - sweet rig! access to rec. out?? on: January 17, 2010, 10:41:38 AM
There is a mod to bring the 9 Mhz IF out to the back panel for the Jupiter. Call TenTec and ask them if it is the same for the Pegasus.
15  eHam Forums / Elmers / RE: Kenwood TS830 LSB on: January 10, 2010, 06:11:18 PM
I think I would start by checking the mode switch. Use a little deoxit on the switch contacts.
