16  eHam Forums / Elmers / RE: AM Broadcast Band sensitivity increase for Kenwood on: December 31, 2010, 05:34:57 AM
On the bottom of the TS-2000 their is a jumper that increases the AM broadband signal level.
it is make local/DX, you move it from local to DX

Have a good day
17  eHam Forums / Elmers / RE: COUPLING POWER SUPPLIES on: December 25, 2010, 03:24:46 PM
Unless the power supplies have a sense input than senses the putout
than no you cannot place the output of the 2 supplies in parallel

just my 2 cents
18  eHam Forums / Elmers / RE: All Band Transceiver vs. Separate HF & VHF on: December 18, 2010, 11:56:21 AM
I have been using a Kenwood TS2000 for several years.
great all around rig. All mode, All band 160 - 6 Meter, 2 Meter 100 Watts out, 440 50 Watts out, optional 23 cm 5 watts
the radio will also do cross band repeat,
and can listen to both HF and VHF/UHF at the same time

always get good audio reports with the stock mike.

Just my 2 cents

19  eHam Forums / Digital / RE: Turn rig on/off via remote desktop? on: August 14, 2010, 12:29:40 PM
Try using Real VNC to link the 2 computer
20  eHam Forums / Digital / RE: Using HRD Wirelessly between two computers in different rooms of a house. on: August 14, 2010, 12:28:11 PM
The easy way of doing it is get a copy of Real VNC, load the computer at the rig as the server and
the other computer as the Viewer.

When you enter the IP address of the server VNC you will see the screen of that computer on
the computer with the viewer.

I have been in the living room down stairs and ran PSK on the rig and computer up stairs

easy to do

my 2 cents
21  eHam Forums / Elmers / RE: antenna tuners on: August 04, 2010, 04:43:14 PM
I use the SGC 239 $198.99 connected to the ladder line of a G5RV Jr and it works great
all you need is RF and add some DC  thats it
22  eHam Forums / Elmers / RE: Feedline from G5RV Jr. to shack on: July 25, 2010, 05:59:41 AM
I was not happy with the SWR on the G5RV Jr. It tuned 40, 20, 10 meter using the tuner in the Rig

I installed a SGC 239 ATU at the ladder line and ran coax and 12vdc to the shack, now my G5RV Jr tunes 10 - 80 with almost a 1:1 swr, I also noticed their was a big improvement in the receive signal strength.

after doing some checking I found out that if you are using a antenna like the G5RV and tune at the coax end you are tuning the coax for 50 ohms but not the antenna.
Placing the tuner at the latter line now you are tuning the antenna

just my 2 cents
23  eHam Forums / Elmers / RE: emergency back up battery battery recommendations on: June 12, 2010, 12:49:25 PM
I get 4 - 5 years off my 2 370WPC batteries, I maintain a constent 13.65 charge on them from my power supply, I also have a circuit that will not let them go below 11.00DVC
it will turn off the load

24  eHam Forums / Elmers / RE: Kenwood RC-2000 Remote head display ""NOT INSTALLED" on: May 30, 2010, 08:41:30 AM
I contacted Kenwood on this issue and the problem is that the replacement board does not have the firmware install and I would have to sent the radio and the RC-2000 to the service center
25  eHam Forums / Elmers / RE: 40 - 10 Meter Dipole Length on: May 30, 2010, 04:29:05 AM
Why place the tuner at the radio to tune the Coax to 50 ohms and not the antenna?

Get an AUT and some ladder line, Connect the ladder line to the Dipole and to the ATU.
Now you will be using the L & C of the ATU to tune the antenna for a match. The input to the ATU will be 50 ohms back to your rig

I have a dipole up 30 ft fed with ladder line to a SGC ATU in the attic,
Apply 12Vdc and RF and I work 10 - 80 meters with 1:1.3 max SWR.

QST has a real good article on ATU page 47 this month
26  eHam Forums / Elmers / Kenwood RC-2000 Remote head display ""NOT INSTALLED" on: May 24, 2010, 04:36:03 AM
My TS-B2000 RC-2000 controller started to have a issue were it would not turn on
the radio, even if I press the radio power ON the radio power on the right back
off

I even tried it with my other TS-2000 with the same results.]
I spent the $350.00 for the Remote head kit.

I decided to fix the original Remote head I replace the PCA with the part number
PCA that was in the unit with the unit. $85.00 is a lot better than $350.

When I plug the remote head in the display shows "PROG 115200 bps" and nothing
else,
I can change it to different speeds by pressing the upper left button.

If I press the 2nd left button I get "NOT INSTALLED"

I get the same thing on both of my TS-2000 with this head the other
one works with no problems

How do I install it?

I use Real VNC. I can sit down stairs and do every that can be done from the computer that is hooked to the Rig. I even have the same screens.

Its great for doing digital
