47  eHam Forums / Elmers / Kantronic KPC-3 TNC Problem on: July 23, 2009, 04:56:50 AM
I have been using my Kantronic KPC-3 TNC for the past 4 years, the other night, I turned on the radio and it went into Xmit mode. The TNC was stilled turned off.

I checked all the cables, nothing found, I disconnected the RS232 and the DC power with the TNC run on its internal battery no problem, the radio went back to rec mode.
If I connect eather the DC power or the RS232 weather the TNC is off or on the radio goes to Xmit mode.

With the TNC on internal battery and turned off I went as far as disconnecting all cables from the laptop and turned it off, as soon as I connect the RS232 the radio went into Xmit mode.

I found that as soon as a ground was connected to the TNC eather from the DC or the RS232 the Radio would go into xmit mode.

I am a electronic tec and this makes no sense

any ideas???

Right now I am running a homebrew G5RV jr.in a V.
Each side of the antenna is 26 ft for a total of 52 ft.
I am using 17 ft of 450 ohm ladder line
The antenna is 32 ft above ground at the bottom of the V, and approx 40 ft at the top of the V.
the ends are approx 40 ft apart
I have a SGC 239 ATU connected to the ladder line and 50 ft to the rig.
It will tune 10 – 80 meters with no problems except for the low end of 40 meters

I am looking at replacing the G5RV jr with a Rectangular 40 meter antenna
Top will be 46.9 ft long approx 50 ft high, and bottom will be 46.9 ft long approx 25 ft high.
Each side will be 23.4 ft.

I will be using 25 – 30 ft of 450 ohm ladder line connected to either the corner or approx 20 ft from the corner again to the SGC 239 ATU

How do you all feel this Rectangular antenna will perform

Thany you

on the back of the 2000 is the ACC, on the back of the PK-232 is a 5 pin plug.
when I did the information for you it did not come out right. si let me redo it;
TS2000 ACC Pin 3 to PK-232 Pin 1 Receive Signal
TS2000 ACC Pin 9 to PK-232 Pin 5 PTT Signal
TS2000 ACC Pin 11 to PK-232 Pin 2 Transmit Signal
TS2000 ACC Pin 4,8,12 to PK-232 Pin 4 Ground

http://buxcommco.com has premade cables for the TS2000 ACC plug, then all you have to do is commect the PS232 end

54  eHam Forums / Elmers / best type of car battery to power equip. in shack? on: February 26, 2009, 10:57:20 AM
I run 2 SLA type batteries (used in UPS systems) I -placed a 100A diode inseries with the pos lead from my power supply (prevents the power supply from draining the batteries durning a expended power failure), Set the power supply for 13.56Vdc + .7Vdc for the diode and let it go. SLA batteries are better under a constant float charge then shuting down the charger and then restarting when the batteries get low

just my 2 cents

You may want to check your sound card setting.
make sure they are set to USB Audio CODEC

I have been running Digipan on both Vista and Windows 7 bata with no problems
