My headset is David Clark model H10-60 and the wiring schematic is at the David Clark website under the description of the headset.  The mic plug is a "TT" or Tiny Telephone and the audio jack is a 1/4" mono (which needs to be converted to stero for my Orion.)  The mic itself is a M7-A.  Thanks for the replies and if anyone is truly interested in building these, I'm ready to guinea-pig.  Vy 73, Glenn, N4ZW.

I previously posted a question on how to interface David Clark aviation headsets for ham radio use.  The circuit was apparently shown in the 12/03 QST on page 57.  Is there anyone out there in radio land that would be willing to build an enclosed interface for me? I can't see well enough to solder anything anymore and would be willing to make it worth the while.  Thanks in advanmce and Vy 73  Glenn, N4ZW

Does anyone have experience modifying David Clark aviation headsets for ham radio use.  I got a deal on model H10-60s and would like to use them if at all possible.  I will be using them with a Ten Tec Orion.  Many thanks.
5  eHam Forums / Elmers / Earth Grounding on: June 17, 2004, 03:47:59 PM
Thanks, guys, I guess the antenna issue threw everyone's thinking off to the lightening angle.  My issue is equipment grounding.  I want to ground the txcvr, amp, and the peripherials via a common bus.  Yes, the antenna is less than 1.2:1 SWR but I would feel better and hopefully would reduce noise by a good ground.  The waterpipe mentioned in my last post is the nearest thing I can reasonable think of.  Thoughts?  And many, many sincere thanks for all the answers.  I have grounded the antenna to the building lightening system via a 4" wide solid copper strip and will install arrestors and surge protectors shortly.

I live on the 9th (top) floor of an assisted living community which I administer. I just installed a 4 el SteppIR on the roof approximately 25' above the flat, asphalt/gravel roof.  I need to ground my equipment (FT 1000D, amp, etc., etc.).  There is a cold water pipe available that connects to the main run throughout the building about 10-12' away.  Any thoughts from experience?

Can anyone give me a good source for quality yellow uniform shirts and yellow, high profile wool or cotton twill baseball-style caps for a EMA CERT EMCOMM team.  Thanks in advance.

Does anyone have experience using a Kenwood TS-2000 for APRS?  Does the internal TNC support APRS or is an external unit used?  73s N4ZW
9  eHam Forums / Elmers / Yaesu VX-7R Weather Alert on: August 22, 2002, 06:57:17 AM
When you activate the feature, just tune the vfo knob to your nearest NOAA transmitter site.  There are only 5-7 frequesncies (I can't remember which) that they use for weather broadcast.  If you aren't sure of the nearest site and can't determine it by just listening, go to WWW.noaa.gov and get the info there.

11  eHam Forums / Elmers / Roof Mounted Antenna on: August 06, 2001, 10:27:28 AM
Fellow Hams: Just moved to a new QTH and have a problem.  No CCRs, but due to position of power lines, only feasible antenna location is on the roof.  Portion of the roof where I can mount antenna is flat and metal covered.  Due to location, I need to get antenna as high up as I possible can.  Have looked at the Glen Martin roof "tetrapod" towers.  Any other voices of experience here?  BTW, am considering a Force 12 Series 40 antenna 10-20 plus 40.  Any ideas of help is greatly appreciated.  Glenn, N4ZW
12  eHam Forums / Elmers / PSK 32 on: July 31, 2001, 11:47:20 AM
Doug: 73s. RigBlaster is expensive but well worth the price to protect your rig. Becareful with inexpensive substitutes, IMHO.  Everyone has an opinion, so here's mine: download W1SQLPSK from the Westmountainradio.com site.  Its great!!!
13  eHam Forums / Elmers / Antennas on: July 31, 2001, 11:43:49 AM
Fellow hams:  I just moved to a new QTH.  No room for a tower or dipole.  Only solution is to roof mount a tower such as a Glen Martin design.  I need a relatively light antenna that will cover as many bands as possible  (DC to Light?  Smiley)Any suggestions based on personal experience will be greatly appreciated.  Giovanni ?  Taffie Hex Beam?
14  eHam Forums / Elmers / Giovanni T-2 on: June 20, 2001, 08:38:53 AM
Has anyone had direct experience with the Giovanni T-2 antenna.  Apparently has a cross-phased wide band two-element array that can be tuned from 160-2 meters.  May be the ideal solution for me given space restrictions.  Any comments or recommendations??  Tks N4ZW

Dear Anonymous:

Obviously, age and longevity have no patent on manners.  I'm delighted that you have had the opportunity during your long and, no doubt, illustrious ham career to absorb so much of what our hobby is all about.  Thanks for your best wishes and kind assistance. By the way, I am an old-system Extra class licensee.
