1  eHam Forums / Contesting / RE: 100 Watt output limits? on: February 09, 2012, 12:27:09 AM
In some contests, or at least the 160 Meters Stew Perry Distance Challenge for example, all entrants' scores are derived by the power levels of whom they contact.  But power levels are confirmed with log submission or your power outpu is assumed to be high power for scoring purposes.  On the "Gentleman's Band" at least, honesty is the best policy.  Kevin B. 2  eHam Forums / Contesting / "antenna impaired" category on: June 02, 2005, 10:07:24 AM
How about categories based on effective radiated power ? A kilowatt to a 10 dbi 5 element Yagi will perform very well...   100 watts to the same antenna still crushes 100 watts to a vertical or dipole...  I am in a restrictive C C and R enviroment, using just a 28' wire "all band" vertical which is run next to a tree trunk...  It is hard to be competive gainst such stiff competition...   QRP is maybe the only way to go...   Kevin
3  eHam Forums / Mobile Ham / Ford F-150 truck... on: March 28, 2005, 03:21:09 AM
I am considering going mobile with a FT-897D and a 2002 V-6 Ford F-150.  Has anyone had success with mobiling with a F-150?  And problems or concerns?  Thanks.
