2  eHam Forums / Elmers / FT-1000D No sound on: June 18, 2009, 05:07:54 PM
I have the Yaesu FT-1000D. There is no audio out through the external speaker jack or the internal speaker. The headphone jack works well as the stereo line out jack work as it should. No other problems, Radio works 100% other than the speaker jack and the internal speaker doesn't work at all. Any ideas? Thank You in advance.. Brian
3  eHam Forums / Elmers / Icom IC-7000 VS FT-857D on: April 07, 2009, 08:54:32 AM
Sometimes you don't get more out of a radio just because it cost more, but in this case you will get Way MORE of a radio with the IC-7000 than the 857D. Well worth the extra. Hold out for the Icom you won't be sorry in the long run. Just look at youre responses. Just my thoughts.  Good Luck.

8  eHam Forums / Elmers / Antenna-Trimming Tree Limbs; Prep forSwaying Trees on: January 04, 2009, 09:32:51 AM
If I understand you correctly, you have a total of three trees ? If the space is far apart why not use three trees ? Inverted V works well. Even if you can only use 2 trees you can always achore the center of the V to the house. As far as the limbs go I would n't wory much with that if there not larg ones. I would use a counter weight system for the end of the ant. insulated with a rope to the wire. All i used fore a counter weight is a gallon jug filled with sand and for the pully i used a snap D ring tied to the tree.  Good luck and play safe in the trees.

9  eHam Forums / Elmers / ft-897d low mic gain on ssb /md100 on: January 04, 2009, 09:11:40 AM
I have a ft897d and the md-100. The mic doesn't drive on ssb. Very low RF output even when the setting is at 100% on the ssb menu setting in the radio. If i eat the mic it will work but don't think it should take that much audio to drive it. What can i do ? I tried the hand mic and it's about the same. Is there a service menu setting to increase this ? Or should i try a 8 band eq pluse ? would that help ?
Thank to all who tries to help.. Brian
10  eHam Forums / Elmers / Home brew windom Anyone made one ? on: March 31, 2008, 10:39:31 PM
I wish to build a OCF multiband dipole as the windom. I have 14g. wire and will be feeding it with a coax all the way to the balun. Would like to know wich balun should be used the 4:1 or 1:1 ?  This ant will be the short multiband 10-80 version also around 135' total. Anyone know what the measeurements I should use for the wire length for each side ?                     Thank You, Brian
11  eHam Forums / Elmers / Wire Ant. Balun Hook up on: February 16, 2008, 05:41:48 PM
W6BR.. Yes that's right it is a offset feed with rg8x.  just like the windom.  you say it doesn't matter what leg goes on what side, and conterdicting that answer is AC5E that says that "the center conducter goes to the long side". WOW  where do I go from here ?  can you give me supporting theory on youre finding ?  Thanks,  Brian
12  eHam Forums / Elmers / Wire Ant. Balun Hook up on: February 16, 2008, 04:30:48 PM
A Ohm meter doesn't answer the question of , where does the input of the center pin come out ? does it go to the short side of the wire or the long side of the offset wire ant.
13  eHam Forums / Elmers / Wire Ant. Balun Hook up on: February 16, 2008, 04:24:58 PM
Ohm meter ? I don't see how that tells me what side goes where. Am I missing something ?
14  eHam Forums / Elmers / Wire Ant. Balun Hook up on: February 16, 2008, 03:37:33 PM
I'm home brewing a offset ant. fed with the 22'coax (RG8)vert radiator that is line insulated at the feed point.  Total lenght is 135'  my short leg is 50' and the long leg is 85'. How do i know what side of the Balun to connect the short side or the long side ?  What side does the shield go to or the center input go to from  the Balun ?  It's probley easier than what i think but rather solder them on once than twice.  Thanks to all..  N2UNL
15  eHam Forums / Elmers / AR-22 rotor control box/need other controler on: August 27, 2006, 09:23:39 PM
I have a AR-22 rotor and the origanal controller (CDE AR-22R) both 4 wire. What other controler can i use  for it? The clicking noise is to much. There has to be a controller out there that can work.
Thank You for the help, Brian
