I would use the morning grey line or sunrise as your guide. Particularily on 75 meters if you can get on there in the mornings.

I get these snaps in my antenna tuner when wind and snow develope static charges on my antenna system, or from an approaching thunderstorm. The last one took out my radio.

I had a friend with a somewhat similar problem. He found that his and his neighbours cable TV input box was not grounded properly. I did not see it and can only relate that information. Start checking your cable tv inputs to the house and the grounding used.
