1  eHam Forums / Elmers / Ta-33 on: August 29, 2007, 07:58:53 PM
Hi all,

I also have a TA33 and a TA53 with 40M and 6M kits, according to the engineers at Mosley, do not use anything but 5 turns of rg-213, 2 over three, at 6 inches, have it as close to the feedpoint as possible, you do not want to make a possible inductor.

Also be absolutley sure to have the connections to the feed points as short as possible or you are just making the radiator longer resulting in vswr issues.

The head engineer I spoke to there has been a ham for quite some time and made quite a bit of sense, also they do not recommend 9913, they prefer good old 213, which is what I use from the feedpoint to my lightning box, from there to the relay and into the shack is 9913.

So far I have no issues with the antennas and if I can hear a station usually they can hear me also, like the ad for my Icom 756 pro II goes "Heard it, Worked it, Logged it".

I also usually run barefoot with great results but of course I sometimes go QRO with one of my many amps...

WA3SKN,

Where does one find the phone numbers to "the local FCC monitoring facility"?.
I am in Wilmington, NC and they need to hear some of the "Charlie Bravo" cretins in this area.

4  eHam Forums / Amplifiers / Solid state amp suggestions on: May 29, 2007, 08:48:43 PM
Hi all!

I have just under 3000.00 to play with and I was wondering what kind of solid state amps some of you may be using, I already have 2 L4b's and an sb-220, but I want something to cover all bands and switch bands when contesting without the muss and fuss of re tuning...

Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions.

5  eHam Forums / Antennas and Towers and more / No trap vertical antenna suggestions on: May 29, 2007, 08:40:41 PM
Hi all!

I am in the market for a good quality vertical, I cannot afford an IR vert but I can spend up to 500.00 and a radial system is not a problem, who has good results with what?
Should I go with an HF9V? seems to be a good choice.

Let me know folks...

Hi all, need some help....

A few days ago I was just browsing around the site and found a small article with quite a few pictures regarding a homebrew portable tower setup, it was a converted boat trailer with a 40' crank up tower, it was a very nice setup and I'll be darned if I cannot find it again, I just purchased a 40' tiltover/crank up tower including rotator and controller as well as a mosley ta33m antenna and wanted to take another look to get ideas so I can build one for our club, anyone recall seeing this?
Thanks in advance to all.
