eHam Forums / Antennas and Towers and more / Portable homebrew tower on eham?

Hi all!
A few days ago I was just browsing around the site and found a small article with quite a few pictures regarding a homebrew portable tower setup, it was a converted boat trailer with a 40' crank up tower, it was a very nice setup and I'll be darned if I cannot find it again, I just purchased a 40' tiltover/crank up tower including rotator and controller as well as a mosley ta33m antenna and wanted to take another look to get ideas so I can build one for our club, anyone recall seeing this? Thanks in advance to all.

Hi, I guess I should have been more specific, anyway I would like to work mostly DX but on the same hand would like to participate in US nets and make US contacts, as far as horizontal goes I cannot get much higher than around 45 to 50', so things look like either an inverted "L" off my tower or a sloper off the tower, I would be working mostly SSB on this band. Does this info help....
Thanks and 73 KI4HLB

Hi all,
It's not that I have limited space but I do have limited ground radial space, I am looking for either and end fed long wire or an off center fed (to keep feed line near the shack) wire project for 160m that does not need ground radials or extensive grounding, I can accomodate up to roughly 200 feet in length give or take. Any suggestions? I have a 500' spool of 14ga THHn stranded, plenty of insulators and 1000' of low loss RG-11, anyone feel like helping me concoct a 160m wire antenna?
Thanks all

Hi,
Thanks for the reply, Here is the dilemma, sure that entry states it is a 1megohm resistor and if you look at the schematic on the same page it shows the resistor in the probe as R13, in the parts list it shows R13 is same as R2 and R2 is a 3.3megohm 1/2 watt 10% composition resistor, what gives?
Thanks

Hi all,
I am restoring an SX-110 and as many of you may know this radio does not have an internal speaker, It requires an external 3.2 or 500 ohm speaker, well they are rather pricey on ebay for originals so I was wondering what I would have to do to use a 4 ohm speaker with this, any ideas? matching transformer (what kind/value)? or would a 4 ohm be ok by itself?
Thanks in advance.

Hi all,
I have a Hickok 209A test meter and luckily I have all the leads and a manual save the DC measurements probe. I was wondering if anyone has one and would be able to tell me the value of the isolating resistor inside the probe so I could make a homebrew.
Thanks
