1  eHam Forums / Company Reviews / Problems with UPS dropping off parcels on porch on: November 26, 2005, 08:39:55 AM
Ain't that the truth. I am a driver of the "brown bozomobile". If the customer requests "signature required" our DIAD (the notepad that we use) will prompt us for a signature. Hence, we cannot leave the package. It wont let us. I don't understand some hams who will bitch about paying extra $1.50 to $3.00 to make sure their $1,000 tranceiver doesn't get left with out a signature.

I'm not saying some of my fellow coworkers are lazy idiots-we've fired a few for leaving stuff on the front porch.

May I add, in my area, the competition leaves their stuff in plain sight, so don't heap on "brown bozomobile".

I too would like to mention, many many times when "signature required" is used most of the time people use the line, "I'm never home to sign for it"..

It all boils down to those who are never satisfied, no matter how hard you try...
2  eHam Forums / Satellites / I'm looking for turnstile antenna. on: May 19, 2005, 10:42:25 PM
I read in qst an article about a ham who sold turnstile antenna kits. I cannot find his website, nor my qst magazine for that month.

Does anyone have any suggestions where to find the website or any plans that are easy to read in order for me to construct my own turnstile antennas.

I am interested in turnstile antennas due to my budget.
3  eHam Forums / Mods And Repairs / ICOM HM-103 Repair on: June 27, 2003, 11:08:14 PM
I am replacing the 8 pin modular plug on the Icom HM-103 Microphone.  I cut the old plug off, and lo and behold there are more wires. Can someone tell me the order of the wires, and which ones to use.

There were 2 black wires in the plug, when I cut the plug off, there is a red wire, copper wire, and silver wire, along with the blue, green and white.

thanks for the help,

4  eHam Forums / Computers And Software / Windows XP and Rig Blaster Problems on: December 28, 2002, 06:37:35 PM
I just bought a new computer that runs Windows  XP.  My old system ran Windows 98.  I hooked up my Rig Blaster Plus to my new computer that runs XP, and the my radio stays in tx.  I looked at the rigblaster website, and they had a fix for Windows ME edition, and for xp.  I tried the XP fix, and no luck.
I guess the DTR line is set to high.
Any suggestions?  Thanks very much.

9  eHam Forums / Elmers / Rooftop Mounted Hamstick Antenna on: November 08, 2001, 01:25:04 AM
I came up with the idea of mounting a 75 meter Hamstick antenna on the roof of my Qth.  My idea is to attach it to one of the vent tubes.  Has anyone had any experience with mounting a Hamstick antenna in this manor.
10  eHam Forums / Misc / Rooftop Hamstick installation on: November 08, 2001, 01:17:03 AM
I have a "crazy" idea.  I have a 75 meter Hamstick antenna.  I would like mount it to a vent pipe on the roof of my Qth.  The question is, is this a reasonable undertaking, or a waste of time.  If it is something worth pursuing, what type of radial system should I use.  I have read using 1/4 wavelength radials on "normal" verticals. Any comments or suggestions. Thanks alot, Paul  AC7KZ
