Terry;
   Of course the birds used your rubber snake for their nest... They were hams in an earlier life and were still "CHEEP!"

Dan;
    That plastic kid with a BB gun would probably shoot his plastic eye out!!!

Next problem?   :-)

Feedline enthusiasts like to sing "p p p Your Boat"!

That would be "rho  rho  rho Your Boat"!

W6RMK has it right on!
I spent many years working in a microwave house.
All we ever called it was VSWR, but more frequently,
Return Loss expressed in dB.  You can convert between the two, but that would give you "A TOUGH RHO TO HOE"!!  That would cause a poor lab tech to kick over
his network analyzer and SCATTER PARAMETERS everywhere!!! (To the VECTORS go the spoils!)   This would be as bad as going into a computer lab and kicking over the bit bucket!

And yes, it is more convention/tradition to call it
VSWR.  Ask any old nun; Old HABITS are difficult to
part with!

My nurse is coming with my meds, I'll go peacefully now.   73,  Cal  K4JSR

AAAAAAAARGGH!!!
I really gave the knob a big twist.
The voices in my head never changed.
All I got out of the deal was a crummy broken nose!  :-(

There ain't no justice!!

Now, where did I leave my tin,er, aluminum foil hat?
I had just filled it with  popcorn...

That's OK, Phil.  I am also a bit "long in the tooth"
and subject to fits of "Part-timer's".  Not quite ready for "All-timer's"!!
KA4KOE tells me I am SENILE, but I have never been to Egypt. I guess he "COPT OUT" on that one.

I think Glen Baxter can have our shares of age borne
dementia.  I will stay away from 14.275.  If I want
to see and hear BS, heat, smoke, hate and discontent
I'll just turn the tube to C-Span and watch the real
demented idiots.

Not weird at all.  142.005 is the 5th harmonic of 28.401 MHz.
Sigh!

Well, waddayaknow? It's a resurrected DISSING contest!

And Plunkeye made it a year before some nice person dredged this up again for our amusement.

Sigh!...

Robert, et al;
There is indeed a cheaper and safer slingshot/fishing reel combo available. Davis, K1DGW, a member of our
Barrow County ham club discovered a tennis ball slingshot marketed to help owners of frisky dogs give
their Jack Russell Terriers a work out.
There is space to fasten a Zebco 202 or better reel on the front. Get some steel leaders and crochet hook
to make holes in a tennis ball for a leader.
After mounting the reel on the slingshot using plastic wire ties, you tie the mono filament from the reel to the leader on the tennis ball. Take aim and shoot! And don't worry. It is a lot harder to shoot your eye out, kid, with a tennis ball than a fishing weight!

(cut & paste into your browser).
By letting Google be your friend you will find those Hyperdog Ball Launchers cheaper elsewhere on the web.
We have two in our club and they have been a real joy
to use at antenna parties and, of course, Field Day.
Also Tennis balls are easier to spot in the limbs and
foliage than are fishing weights.

90  eHam Forums / Elmers / Heatsink for DIY Dummy Load on: May 30, 2009, 09:02:39 PM
Rick, heatsinks are easy to find.  Get one much bigger
than you think you'll need. Also a lot of fins would be nice. Don't forget to put heatsink compound or a good heat conducting pad between the resistors and the heatsink.   If you intend to put 200 Watts into that load you would also need a good muffin fan that
will move a lot of air across that heatsink.
Read a book on Thermal Dynamics so you can design a
better home-brew global warming device! :-)
Your friends were correct. There are more economical
ways of getting a 200 Watt Dummy Load!
