eHam Forums / Elmers / BPL mitigation? Worst case scenario?

If a worst-case scenario actually occurs, and BPL is widely adopted, is there ANY way of mitigating the interference? (something like noise blanker, DSP, etc?) Will CW still get through best of all?

So much for my chimeric monstrosity that was supposed to span the decades of the latter half of the 20th century! But it's strange. My valiant has an SSB position on the mode switch, and an input jack. Perhaps we have different versions of the valiant. 73 Steve WA2DTW

Again, many thanks. Regarding the FT-817 and Valiant- the Valiant does have a provision to run as a linear for an external exciter on SSB. The scheme would be to excite the Valiant with the FT-817 (which puts out 5 watts) on 160 SSB. If more power is needed, then excite the AL-84 with the Valiant. So there would essentially be three rigs hooked in series. (I don't have another linear that will cover 160) 73 Steve WA2DTW

Steve Many thanks Let's say I have an AL-84 (which I do, but haven't gotten it on the air yet.) Planning to use it on SSB, driven by an HW-5400, and perhaps by a Valiant on 160 [driving the Valiant on 160 with an FT-817]. Does this make sense? What problems should I watch out for? 73 Steve WA2DTW

Hi What about performance on AM? Are the tubes fairly inexpensive and readily replaceable? Thanks 73 Steve

The Johnson electronic TR switch is rated from 3.5 to 30 mHz. Is there any reason why it shouldn't perform properly on 160 meters? Many thanks and 73 Steve

Maybe this belongs in "boat anchors". But I have an old, rugged IC2AT 2 meter HT, built in the days before PL tones. Does anyone know of an easy way to add tones to this time-honored device? Many thanks Steve

Does anyone know of a good boatanchor linear that will take drive from a Viking Ranger, and will work well on 160 meter AM (i.e. with the new radiation exposure restrictions) without modification or with minimal modification?
