My Thanks to Bruce, N4MKW, for the schematic for the code reader. It's a real pleasure to be involved in a hobby where people work together to solve problems, especially when that problem belongs to a total stranger..That's what Amateur Radio is all about..Thanks again....73....Mike..........

I went thru the tuning procedure in the manual(disconnecting the high voltage-putting an SWR meter between the amp and radio, tuning the coils for the lowest SWR, etc.) but didn't see any variation when tuning the 10m coil...the other coils for the other bands tuned just fine....hope this helps explain my situation....thanks....mike

I purchased an FL-2100B as my 1st amp and have a question/problem. The amp works fine on 15 thru 80. Voltages/currents all within normal limits and power out is fine. BUT it will not tune on 10m. Someone suggested that the 10m mod needed to be accomplished. I'm having trouble finding that information..Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated....Thanks....Mike

10  eHam Forums / Misc / "ON THE AIR" sign on: March 03, 2008, 03:57:59 PM
I found the company that made them but they were discontinued back in 2001. I did numerous searches for "carrier operated switch" and "carrier operated relay" but all I came across was definitions, switch mfgs and ever carrier pigions......so If you would draw a diagram for me, that would be great. You could e-mail it to me. My e-mail address is listed on this site with my call info. I have a general idea of what I need but I'm not 100% sure.....Thanks.....Mike
11  eHam Forums / Misc / "ON THE AIR" sign on: March 03, 2008, 11:50:46 AM
I overheard a QSO the other day and the subject was this sign. Before I could copy any information regarding a source of supply, the signals were gone. From what I understood, this sign requires no hard-wiring. I guess it operates via stray RF. Anyone have any ideas where one of these signs could be purchased or better yet, where plans could be obtained to build one ??  Thanks...Mike.....
12  eHam Forums / Elmers / Icom 737a for CW on: February 01, 2008, 11:22:08 AM
I said it was a question I should have know the answer to.
Althought the manual says nothing about using a stereo plug, it does have a diagram/picture, and after careful examination of the diagram/picture, I see that it is a stereo plug....Thanks to all for the help...Mike

It may be a question I should know the answer to, but here goes.
I just picked up a 737a and am attempting to hook up and use a straight key with it. As soon as I plug in the straight key, switch to CW, the built in keyer takes over and transmit's at the speed set on the control. I haven't figured out to shut it down. There is a button on the back of the radio to switch it on/off and it's in the off position. I checked the polarity on the key plug and it's according to the spec's. As a matter of fact, I have switched the polarity and it makes no difference. Is there another button the manual isn't telling me about or is there something in the menu system that I don't understand. Thanks in advance for the help..Mike

That makes sense...
Was just curious what the " D-50A "..notation was all about..
When I started looking about an amp, the availability/cost of replacement tubes/parts of an amp was a major concern. think I'll stick with the 811 or 811H...Thanks for the info and advice...73...Mike
