N4LFJ-

Congratulations on the establishment for the new Amateur Radio club!

I am proud after being licensed 38 years to be a charter member of the Estancia Valley Amateur Radio Association (Torrance County, New Mexico SouthEast of Albuquerque)! We voted to approve our constitution and by-laws at our May 14 meeting. We are moving forward to be ARES affiliated, VE exam coordination for the area, and are currently conducting weekly nets on the 444.075 repeater atop Capilla Peak just West of us. A big thanks to Elliot W5NES for making his repeater available to EVARA! Since May we have participated in numerous emergency related activities to assist Torrance County.

Keep up the great work you are doing!

Amen chorus to call "CQ"!!!

I agree that 50.125 should be calling frequency only and move off to conduct a QSO. 50.175 is far enough above the calling frequency to give one flexibility in adjusting it further. Good Amateur Practices are good as an example for newcomers and seasoned amateurs alike!

Enjoy the VHF and above bands to your heart's content!

3  eHam Forums / Clubs / Jack D. Wilk K2KDQ Memorial Station on: June 23, 2005, 07:06:50 AM
I recently e-mailed members of our old Knight Raiders VHF Club about obtaining a new vanity call sign. Jack D. Wilk, K2KDQ/N2DXP of my hometown Passaic, New Jersey was one of the early members of the KRVHFC in the fifties. As a tennager he gradually served as an officer of the KRVHFC for decades, mainly as it's President. He was personally responsible for "Elmering" many new amateurs and club members. I know because I was one of them during the late 1960' through 1976. I then moved to New Mexico where I continued my VHF and above operations as WB5YYX. In his memory we are getting back K2KDQ (a 1950's call sign) for a Jack D. Wilk Memorial Station. We will use it for special events, VHF contesting, etc. Since many of the KRVHFC attend the Dayton Hamvention we will begin using it there in 2006! I am proud to be part of honoring Jack's contributions to amateur radio and keeping his memory going through this effort.
