eHam Forums / Elmers / Bitten by the top Band bug!!

Well let me say this to add to my troubles. I have 17 acres in the middle of nowhere. I have one tree that is about 40ft high and thATS the only tree on the property that tall. the rest are bushes. My problem comes mainly on the fact that I don'y want to set up a dipole because I would need a very tall support that I can't afford. I was considering setting up a magnetic loop antenna for recieve on 160 and something else for transmitting. I also would like some suggestions on some radios that are 160m only rigs.

well N8PKN,,,
I have been on the hunt to get my T7H alone to work the"birds" lets just say you have to be able to press the band button fast!!!heharhar..... Wat i use is me T7H for transmiting and my rat shack scanner for the downlink. It works and is somewhat conveinent and the you can also work the sats that have the 440 up and 144 down and 144 up and 440 down.
hope it helps!!

Hi there I am KD5RNN I live out here in Terrell. It really depends on exaclty what you are looking to work. For example: IRLP .... or just reapeters? I work out here with just an IC-T7h and running 5 watts I can get into almost every east / south dallas reapeater. I run the factory made Rubber Duck from Icom! I love my little rig.... One thing though I do experince I good deal of intermon on 2m in the direct down town Dallas.
73 If you have already got a rig try reaching me on the 443.00 + pl 110.9 Its mesquite reapeter that is up 470' I hit it running 5watts off of lake twakoni an from north park mall...
