16  eHam Forums / Mods And Repairs / FT-8800R & YSK8900 Problem on: September 25, 2005, 12:58:02 PM
Hello all, I am in the process of installing a FT8800R radio in my Saturn. I also purchased the YSK8900 kit for it.

Unfortunately when I plug the long extension cable into the radio and into the face plate, all I get is a "crack" sound about once every second. The display will not light up either. When I plug in the short extension cable that came with the radio, the radio works fine and there is no cracking sound.

The only thing I noticed is that the wire colors on the original extension cable are in a different order than the ones on the extension cable.

Anyone else have a problem like this?
