I want to install a lightweight tower to be the center support for wire antennas. I have considered going aluminum because of the weight and maybe easy tilt up.
I have a source for Rohn 20. If I go with a hinge base in the specified concrete base, can a 40 foot tower be raised by mortal men?
Any input will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Ed

I finally have radios that handle my very irritating noise here. The best blanker I have ever found, by far, is my Drake TR-7.
Next best is almost a tie with Ten-Tec OMNI V and ICOM 746PRO. I have used many rigs, old and new, these work best for me.
Good luck,

Thanks for the reply. I am aware of the polarity issue. Just for casual FM. Emphasis will be SSB.
My main concern is build quality of the Cushcraft vs the M2. I had the 9 element M2 at one time and it was pretty good except for the element "keepers".
Some dealers are offering free shipping on the Cushcraft.

I am wanting a small yagi for 2 meter use, both FM and SSB. Now looking at the Cushcraft A124WB, M2 4 element, both with T-match and maybe the M2 3 element with Gamma Match. Should I be concerned with build quality of the Cushcraft later models?
The Gulf Alpha 5 element is a possibility although it is somewhat larger.
Will be mounted horizontal.
Any info will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Ed

Hi ken,
Thanks for the info. I know the 480 has a lot going for it. I was thinking about giving six meters another try this summer. Have been waiting two months for a rig to show up locally. Decided to take a chance with an ICOM 746PRO. Within a week of buying it, the following rigs are for sale nearby: FT-950, 756PRO and TenTec 6n2.
I am a bit concerned about the service future of my 746, but some well known service techs said don't worry about this late serial number rig.
Anyway, I am on six with a small beam for now. Will see how it goes.
tnx, Ed
