eHam Forums / Misc / Need a list / source of modulation modes by code
|

G'day , I ran into an interesting topic. In the marine VHF bands, the Modulation is 16KF3E or 16KG3E.
I have a 2 meter that has a different mode, for voice FM.
Where can I find a list that has "all" of the modes that are in use, and describes what 16KF3E means.
Thanks to all,
K7AOZ ( Al ) ex KD7PML

eHam Forums / Antennas and Towers and more / Grounding for an RV "shack" with a short

G'day. New ham here. I have just purchased an Hustler 2M antenna so that I can make my RV-Trailer a shack of sorts. I have put up a short tower so that I can clear the local flora and am in the process of running the coax. My question: since I'm running off of a battery bank and ( as yet ) nothing is grounded - what is the best ( and or most expedient ) solution? I believe that I need a ground, but the mobile ham radio that I'm using dosen't have a ground per se. So.. what's a lightning fearing, signal wanting fellow to do? Thanks in advance Al KD7PML Oregon

Is it the 'quality' of the sound that requires the sound card interface? If I've a laptop with a mic port and a speaker port, will that work or are those just not Hi-Fi enough? Or... is there something special about the sound cards and their drivers that is what's needed? Thanks. al

Getting started in packet and need to understand the need for sound cards for some forms of TNC use. Is the sound card needed for the better sound capability, ie wider sound range and more simultaneous sounds than a standard sound/speaker output? Do you only need the sound card for outgoing information, or is the card needed as well for incoming sound from the TNC? Lastly, for which modes of TNC operation, do you NEED a sound card and which can you get by with just the RS232 port? Thanks to all , KD7PML Al in Oregon

I am getting ready to take my General exam and have been searching for my original Code CSCE. Is there some method to request a duplicate? Or do I need to take the exam again. Thanks, Al KD7PML
