18  eHam Forums / Elmers / vertical antenna feeding question on: June 26, 2005, 12:52:11 AM
i have a question about feeding a 1/4 wave vertical
antenna.  what affect would a parallel resonant lc
combination feed in series with the base of the antenna
have? one could tap onto the l component to get a 1:1
swr. would the required number of radials be reduced?

20  eHam Forums / Elmers / SteppIR Antennas on: October 31, 2004, 04:15:22 PM
I've had a 3 element up for nearly 3 years here in
dallas, tx.  the only problems i've had wer self
induced and the squirrels gave me a problem.  It's
not cold here by any strech of the imagination but
the motors have never given a bit of trouble.  i met
john & company several years ago at hamfest in
arlington, tx and they are a very nice bunch of guys.
the few problems i have observed on the yahoo group
for steppir have always been fixed/repaired/tendedto
very quickly by john & company,
21  eHam Forums / Elmers / 6 meter dipole, why not just full wave? on: September 11, 2004, 09:00:42 AM
It's impedance would be quite high, so you'd have to
have some type of matching device to make it useable
to equipment that expects 50 ohms as a load value.

did you try sending email to force12 like the
page suggests by any chance?

24  eHam Forums / Elmers / Extension Speaker on: June 28, 2003, 05:34:04 PM
I have had a Sounds Sweet Speaker for about 2 months and
rate it as number one.  I've had a number of other external speakers and none compare.  It's big,
heavy, and perhaps ugly but sounds very, very good.

25  eHam Forums / Elmers / Screwdriver dipole antennas on: May 16, 2003, 04:16:54 PM
look at Steppir Antennas.  expensive antennas but
they sure do work.  they make beams, rotatable dipoles
and verticals.  i've used their products for over
a year and have nothing but praise.  no connection
to them except for a very satisifed customer.

26  eHam Forums / Elmers / tell me about Ham Radio on: April 26, 2003, 05:25:27 PM

go to this url:
http://www.arrl.org/hamradio.html

ham radio has many facets, almost to many to mention
but to name a few: talking to someone in a foreign
country(DX), telemetry(rockets, etc), moon bounce,
digital communications, meteor bounce, weather monitoring, public service.

I've used the 6m5x for several years.  Well built,
excellent performer, excellent gain, excellent f/b.
i'd recommend it to anybody and would buy another
with out hesitation.
