1  eHam Forums / Elmers / Source for toroids? on: March 11, 2005, 05:19:24 PM
Hi Dale:  Check this URRL:  http://www.elecraft.com/Apps/ToroidGuy/toroidguy_prewound_toroids.htm
2  eHam Forums / Elmers / Crimp-style coax connectors on: November 25, 2002, 03:47:25 PM
I'd stick with PL-259's and use the solderless type. Several manufacturers are making these. Most of my experience has been with the Shakespeare Centerpin PL-259.  You just cut the cable flush, push the coax into the connector, squeeze the connector's piercing fingers into the braid with pliers, and thread the cover over the fingers.  I have used many of these with never a failed connection.  They're available for RG-8X and RG-58 A/U cable from most marine supply stores.  Other sizes may also be available from Shakespeare.
3  eHam Forums / Elmers / Help - oil burner RFI on: November 22, 2002, 04:07:47 PM
Hi:  I had a similar problem and spent most of a winter trying to quiet down the oil burner.  I finally bought a JPS ANC-4 noise canceller.  That did the trick. Not only did it cure the oil burner noise, it quieted lots of other noises I had attributed to band conditions, antenna performance, etc.  Great investment. I Believe Timewave is manufacturing these now.

5  eHam Forums / CW / Key Dust Covers on: November 18, 2001, 08:21:12 PM
A few weeks back, I saw an article about a ham who would make acrylic dust covers for various brands of keys and paddles, with your callsign engraved, for a reasonable cost. I have lost that address. Could someone please enlighten me?? Denny, K3DDX
6  eHam Forums / Company Reviews / I thought the HRO horror stories were untrue...... on: October 31, 2001, 09:06:47 PM
I have done quite a bit of business with HRO Woodbridge, VA (by my standards). I have never had a problem. They always tell me the stocking status of any item and ship as promised. I don't ask for a manager or specific salesperson, just deal with whomever answers the phone. They're professionals in their responses to my orders. Great people to deal with.  K3DDX
7  eHam Forums / Elmers / IC-710 on: April 07, 2001, 08:11:04 PM
The IC-710 in my earlier post is a marine SSB transceiver.
8  eHam Forums / Elmers / IC-710 on: April 07, 2001, 08:08:28 PM
Need instruction to modify and ICOM IC-710 for amateur band operations.
9  eHam Forums / Site Talk / New Product Announcements on: December 29, 2000, 06:41:23 PM
I like the idea of featuring new products on the Home Page. You might consider a list with a very brief description of what the product is, linking to the manufacturer's home page, if too many complain about commercializing the site. Personally, I'd like to see it as you proposed.
10  eHam Forums / Elmers / wink link gateway system on: November 30, 2000, 06:14:42 PM
The topic is winlink not "wink link". Winlink 2000 is a worldwide bulletin board and e-mail system for mobile hams. It uses PACTOR and is very popular with mariners , i.e., hams on boats.  Gateways are the shore stations in the system. For a comprehensive view of the system, go to http://winlink.org/k4cjx. 73.
11  eHam Forums / Elmers / Winlink e-mail system on: November 28, 2000, 03:25:26 PM

Winlink 2000 is a worldwide e-mail/bulletin board system for the mobile ham. There are many gateway stations in the system.  For a comprehensive look at the system go to http://winlink.org/k4cjx

12  eHam Forums / Site Talk / New site comments / issues on: November 02, 2000, 06:17:30 PM
I have one major grip against the site.  I visit frequently and read the latest in forums, elmers. etc. If I am on the home page and see two items of interest in the sidebars, I click on one and read the info. I then hit the "back" button to check the other item. Voila! Everything has changed. Then I have to search for the other item. Usually, I just get frustrated and visit QRZ, or some other site. I really like e-ham, but frequently curse the nerd (better said as the jerk manager who insisted he do it) who designed this feature into the site. -K3DDX
13  eHam Forums / Site Talk / Need some feedback on eHam home page on: November 02, 2000, 06:05:33 PM
I know I am a bit late in this, but I have one major gripe with the home page. While scanning the side bars, I see two topics of interest. I click on one, read the info, then hit the "back" button to return for the other one. Voila! Everything has changed. I now have to go searching for the other item. Usually I just get frustrated and visit QRZ or some other site. I really like e-ham, but frequently find myself cursing the site, and swearing I'll never visit again.

14  eHam Forums / Misc / Dust Covers on: November 01, 2000, 05:42:54 PM
Am looking for dust covers for my gear. I seem to remember running across a web site months ago in St. Louis, I think it was a salvage company, that had custom fitted covers for various manufacturers' gear.  Can anyone help? 73, K3DDX
15  eHam Forums / Digital / Digital signal recognition on: October 27, 2000, 06:01:47 PM
Further to above:  These web sites were extremely helpful, but I still have some signals to find, i.e., PSK31, PACTOR, and AMSAT. I am grateful to Don for his help. Anyone else have any suggestions. Thanks.        -Denny, K3DDX
