eHam Forums / Mobile Ham / Kenwood tm-g707a software

Hello All; I have a Kenwood tm-g707a and have a question for anyone who has used the kenwood software to program it. The file menu has no "import" function, and all files are saved as a *.707 file, which seems to be some sort of space or tab delimited file. I have several files that are text files which contain repeater lists for new england, 2 meter and 440. I would like to import these as they are in ascending order and quite complete. Is there any way of formatting a file under something like word or excel to have the kenwood software pick it up for programming into my radio? Anyone create a template for importing/saving files for this purpose? The radio is a delight to use, and I would like to take advantage of this feature, but don't look forward to typing in 180 different channels.... Thank in advance for the help, Eric.

eHam Forums / Digital / Packet without a TNC?

Hello; I've just bought a new radio for the car and have an extra 2 meter HT kicking around the house (Radio shack 202). I'm a bit challenged budget wise (radio competes with fly fishing and shoes for the kids) and was curious if there were any work-arounds for getting on packt without having to purchase a TNC. If it's essentially shifting tones, is there anyone who's developed software TNC emulation that would use either a sound board or serial port to allow this? Maybe the cost would be more than cheap TNC I guess, but I thought I'd ask out of curiosity... Thanks; Eric.
