1  eHam Forums / Good Seller / Buyer Beware / RE: W8AMZ - Pathetic Service on: April 29, 2013, 08:05:25 AM
Sorry to hear about your bad experience with w8amz.  I bought 2 antennas from him about 2 yrs ago and had a similar problem, never received an email saying they shipped. Contacted and later got things figured out.  Everyone says they had excellent service with so and so then one guy just so happens to have a bad encounter.   When it comes to companies or individuals running a business, customer service has gone way down from what it used to be....contact them about an order and the just toss you to the wolves out back. Seldom have found a customer service person that goes above and beyond to make sure your happy with the product or will look into the problem if pending shipping.
2  eHam Forums / APRS / Android APRS set up on: April 23, 2013, 05:37:46 PM
Need some help on how to go about this project and if it will work the way i want it to.

Current set up
Yaesu ft-8900 w kenwood RC-D710 Head  works great Smiley

Now here is the fun part/challenge.
I want to interface the TNC-Pi module and create a cheaper version of the AVMAP-G5 set up but tied somehow back into the current set up so dont have to run a separate 2m rig just for mapping purposes only. I would think it would be possible to come off the back of the radio an create a dual DIN port interface and run aprs on one side and mapping display on the other side.  Can it be done or am just dreaming that it can and in reality it can't and am totally over looking something.

I have the raspberry pi and ordered the TNC-Pi the other day and waiting for it. In the mean time figured would ask this question and see if anyone knows if it can be done or not.  Don't care if it will look ugly, can always clean it up later.

ALL Advice and suggestions are welcomed  Grin

He's had more time than Pinson and has mastered the art of scamming, Pinson just got greedy and made the mistake just happen to get caught red handed with his hands in the cookie jar.  RM day in the great spotlight is sure to happen at some point when he makes the fatal mistake finally gets busted for his shenanigans.

Go get several of your neighbors together an go visit the one shooting an voice your concerns an suggest that if their gona shoot plese do it between x n x hours of day an not later.  If they blow you off and keep doing then would go to the cops as a group an explain and hopefully they will step in and do something about it.

Maybe the two were in cahoots with each other. One running the scam an providing the inventory for the other  Grin

US. Postal money order is just as good. I have used them lately for transactions. Fill out. keep stub an send other part to the person. wait till get item purchased then toss the stub as other half reached destination and got product in return and no wondering where it got lost at in the process.

Just my 2 cents  Grin

I Wouldn't buy anything from that guy period!  He floods every available swap shop or for sale listing with his stuff. I was on 2 different yahoo groups and he would flood them all the time with stuff to unload, I finally got tired of it an left both groups because of him. It was annoying.

Where's he getting all this stuff for sale any ways Huh  Doubt getting it from estate sales...
This guy for all I care sounds a lot like some other scamer that has made some big headlines lately on here (name excluded) only difference is he sends the product...maybe what your after or may be totally the opposite.  Grin

Finally after multiple emails with the guy finally got a zipcode where to ship the radios to his relative. Told him it would be xx amount and prefer Postal Money order. Also said as soon as receive payment will send the radios.  Now waiting for response  Grin

Postal payment = good as cash and both are happy.  Any other payment is questionable an don't care to be on the poor end of some deal that went bad over payment.
10  eHam Forums / Site Talk / RE: eHam forums vs. QRZ forums on: March 24, 2013, 03:04:34 PM
I like eham much better for asking general Questions, opinions/ advice as get good answers. People on QRZ tend to some times take a long time to answer a question or pour gas on the fire an go at one an others throats.

Eham - Discussions an advice
QRZ - snoop/ hunt for new toys

But hey everyone is different an has different opinions on what site they like better
11  eHam Forums / Misc / RE: Radio repair on: March 23, 2013, 06:58:44 AM
Spent $85 on the transaction

What was included: radio, mount bracket, power cord, RT systems programing cd and separation kit.
Separation kit alone is worth $30 and sense already had a FT-8900 and the kit being compatible with that radio as well
Sold the RT systems cd - recovered $20 back

Guess worse comes to shove an cant get it repaired, I got a $30 decorative paperweight of a radio  Grin
12  eHam Forums / Misc / Radio repair on: March 22, 2013, 05:23:31 PM
Need help finding a radio repair shop that works on Yaesu radios.

I have a yaesu FT-7100 that i picked up off a fellow ham. It was DOA. The seller made it clear in the listing an took the gamble and bought it, figuring it would be a simple fix.  Got it an checked everything power cord, fuse in power cord, short separation cable in the head. No luck.  The problem is somewhere in the radio its self, as know the head is working.

I sent it out to a repair shop an got an email back few weeks later the guy cant fix the problem as lacks the ability to test and find the source of the failure. Would like to get it fixed vs having a semi expensive paperweight.

Suggestions....
13  eHam Forums / Stolen Gear / RE: Don Pinson, NA0DP.....now in the local NEWS!!!!! on: March 22, 2013, 05:04:28 PM
Glad to see that ebay and amazon finally stepped up an suspended his accounts hope they suspended his wifes accounts while they were at it. Guys like this guy are a disgrace to the ham world!  He deserves what ever happens to him from the FCC and FBI and any one else that goes after him.
14  eHam Forums / Stolen Gear / RE: Don Pinson, NA0DP.....now in the local NEWS!!!!! on: March 20, 2013, 07:12:58 AM
No that he is in the news an his so called "reputation" is in the spotlight for all the local hams an non hams to see, hopefully maybe now the FCC and FBI will do something and put an end to his shenanigans for good.   Makes you wonder why the FCC won't revoke his license instead of keeping granting him new calls like they been doing. They got to been aware of his scam stunt from the numerous people he scammed that filed complaints about him Huh

I think a extended stay in a nice 8x10 grey room is well needed for him and his wife as she's just as guilty as he is.
