Again Packet Radio isn't totally dead yet in 2016 and I found this one from "Commsprepper" who by the way has an excellent channel devoted to emergency communications. I highly suggest checking out the rest his excellent series of emergency communications oriented videos.

He also covers Pactor, RMS Express and Winlink, Solar, D-Star, SSTV, and Packet Radio. As well as most aspects of emergency communications.

His latest video is called "Kantronics Packet Radio Mail and BBS Operations". And it covers how to set up a Packet TNC mailbox and how to use it. It runs a bit over 10 minutes and he does a pretty job of explaining the setup. If you always thought about setting up your own Packet Mailbox and Packet Station. Then you might like this video

You can see this video as well as his other videos at

The "Kantronics Packet Radio Mail and BBS Operations" video is located at

He plans to produce more Packet videos like this in the next couple of weeks. So keep checking his channel every week for new offerings.

In the meantime, if you have not yet seen this outstanding 14 series of professionally done and very comprehensive Packet Radio Training videos produced by K8BZ earlier this year.  Then please search for "K8BZ Packet Radio Networks" on YouTube
The playlist is located at

Finally if you want to get a fascinating look on what Packet Radio was like in early 1992 at the very height of Packet Radio's popularity. Then search for  "DRC Packet Radio Class" on YouTube.

They professionally produced a total of 10 videos and cover just about every aspect of Packet Radio  in great detail but easy to understand terms. Despite being 24 years old, these videos held up very well with a few minor glitches here and there.

The internet and cellphone networks are great until they go down, what then? Find out here.,111948.0.html

You can actually do HF Packet with a Rig Blaster Plug n Play and software that supports it. The PnP supports positive PTT software control that is needed for these modes for quick turn around that is not possible with a Signal link with slow VOX only keying control.
