DXing's Rarest Ever

Only about 55 Qs were made by W6ODD/CR8 from the long-deleted Portuguese India enclave of Diu in 1948.

Note W6ODD/CR8's rig: HQ129 receiver and a pair of 807 tubes running about 30 watts into a wire. Not exactly a portable rig!

Reportedly W1FH was calling CQ (at 10:34z!) when the CR8 answered him!

DXing was so much different back then as this nearly-as-rare W6ODD/FI8 card reveals: "Thanks for fine DX CHAT, Bruce. Great signal into Saigon."

RST's were all real, in this case a genuine 599X (look it up) from Saigon, French Indo-China. I guess a good "rate" in 1948 was four or five "DX CHATS" per hour!
