Simple question I hope -

I have an external 4-button keypad for my IC-7300, but it doesn't have a mic jack, so I was thinking of constructing a small "Y-cable" so that I can have the mic and the keypad both plugged in. Thought about using a small project box with two 8-pin chassis mount male, and a cable coming out with the female plug. Is this just as simple as jumpering one of the male connectors to the other, and then connecting one though to the plug to the rig?

I know normally it would probably be easier to just install the mic jack in the keypad itself, but this one is tiny, and there's just no room. I thought a small box with two jacks and an 8-10" cable going to the rig would be perfect.

Thanks and 73!

That should work fine.  You only need to connect pins 3 and 6 to the keypad.
