Since I have had good comments about the audio from the hand held mic that came with the FT-857D I think that I will just keep using it and try to find some sort of desk mount to attach it to. I'm looking for a mount to attach the hand held mic to. Anyone know of such?

Seems to me a Mike clip attached to a stand made of wood would work. Not overengineered by any means.

Thanks I have been thinking about something like that. Just need something a heavy enough at the base to keep it up right.

You could also fab it with steel. Heavier.

Get an old broken D-104 stand and attach mic to it.
